SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

For overnight on 350 long haul:
Row 11 > any seat in the main J cabin > 19.
You can’t be a tall fella, Boomy. At 6’3, I would take any seat row 19 (especially D and F) than a regular main cabin seat with the cramped confines. I do wear ear plugs on overnight flights so any galley noise is barely noticeable.

I’m 190cm so relatively tall. No issues in the long haul configs but the regional ones are cramped, I know all too well unfortunately. While I do use NC headphones I can’t sleep with them so have to give up some foot space (if there is no other choice) to be in a more quiet part of the cabin but I’ll do everything possible to avoid overnights on the regionals.

Row 19 > any seat in the small J cabin > 11.
I would take any seat row 19
But isn't 19 the bassinet row which possibly not preferred for the overnights?

I've tried 2 sectors on the long haul a350. I'm 185cm and find them excellent as I'm a side sleeper - in fact better than the A380.
Thought a bit hard. If only SQ has those padded liners they use on the A380 (and also QF). Or @RooFlyer 's patented solution

So has anybody asked Crew actually why they ran out of cotton towels in J cabins? Supply issues? Over usage on that sector? I always find it interesting pax go online post a flight and complain instead of being pro-active on flight - if they run out seek out IFM and note this is unacceptable - they will definitely include it in their flight report.

Quick question.
I am not transiting but already staying in Singapore. My flight is SQ207 0745 departure. I really don't want the hassle of waking up around 3-4am, checking out and taking taxi to airport that early. I know there is the Crowne hotel outside terminal, but I just want to roll out of bed and go straight to lounge without any obstacles that early in the morning.

Can I book the transit hotel if I'm not "transiting" but already checked in for flight? Has anyone done this?
Edit: It seems it's ok as long as you can check in early with the airline and have your luggage checked in.

You can be checked in and still do the CP Changi. CP Changi is landslide at the B side of Terminal 3, so still need to go through immigration which is quick due to the automated passport machines and security bag checks at the gate.

Feedback has been sent via SQ feedback form.

Not everything that is not up to par is "unacceptable". Good example is lack of cotton towelettes from loos. There are perfectly acceptable paper towels.

I did report the centre divider issue to the CC as it was unacceptable.

Morning all,

I’m travelling next week in a group of 5 from SYD to Europe via 2 night layover in Singapore. I’m VA platinum and the others in my family hold no status. Do Singapore airlines recognise VA plat for checkin and do I get to line up with my family at the business class checkin queue even if we’re all flying economy?

Second question is I’m flying back to singapore via Delhi with Singapore airlines first class. On arrival I’ll have a 3 or 4 hour layover before flying back to SYD with Scoot. Would I be allowed to enter the private room having arrived on a first class ticket? I know I’m probably pushing my luck and I’m sure I can settle for whatever the alternatives are.

I'm not sure if this is the correct thread but is anyone else experiencing overly long delays for SQ flights being credited to Velocity accounts?
Slightly late reply but for the sake of another data point - flew 22/23 May, points and status credited on 28 May.

Thanks.

I submitted a claim and five weeks later received points and status credits for the flight SIN-CDG.
Nothing for the flight that got me to SIN.

I emailed with e-ticket and pics of boarding passes attached to Velocity and received a reply saying they have raised a claim for the missing sector.

My SQ booking still shows that the flights are to be credited to my Velocity account.

I feel the issue is from SQ and not VA.

Flying home next weekend and wondering how long it will take this time. Fortunately the Velocity people are so helpful.

Yes, it’s supply issues and it’s not only affecting the towels. I understand that they are still having issues with nearly all items coming from China, which is most onboard amenities.

It has also been compounded by SQ deciding to change their logistics supplier in Singapore during Covid. The new supplier was, I believe, totally unprepared for pace of the ramp up. (Questions can be asked about the due diligence SQ did in selecting this vendor, but that’s beside the point).

I did ask why SQ seems to be having more issues than many others, like the ME3. The response I got was that unlike the ME3 who mostly kept flying during the pandemic, SQ’s supply chain almost came to a standstill and so the ME3 haven’t had to restart many of these things from scratch, or from a very low base.

I flew SYD-SIN a month ago in Y as a VA Gold and lined up with Mrs Warks at the Business check-in at SYD with no issues. Staff member added my VA status to my boarding pass to give me access to the SQ lounge. This also worked in SIN for SIN-CPH. In CPH there was no SQ lounge so just checked in with everyone else and hung around the gate.
The odd thing is that I bought my tickets through SQ and with my KF number but adding the VA status to the booking seems to have ensured the points and SCs ended up with Velocity.

Easy enough to add FF number before the flight and redirect points and SC.

Interestingly SQ and VA have a agreement which credits SC to VA and also receive PPS Value (like KF SC but based on $ spent) to PPS Club for revenue J or above flights - if Velocity number linked to KF number in the SQ partner profile. But need $25k spend less taxes p.a to get any benefit from PPS Club

But I believe FF points will only credit to one or the other.

Yes, SQ uses the SAS lounge in CPH.
I just returned from CPH too. Were you there long?

I read about the SAS lounge, didn't sound too exciting so I didn't worry about access (we had an extra family member who couldn't get in too).
We had a few days in CPH either side of our fabulous Iceland trip. Loved CPH though, hadn't been in years but what a great open city. No high rise, little traffic, millions of bicycles...
