FWIW I always choose 2F when solo - yes 1F you kinda little backwards but I dislike it cause for takeoff and landing I feel like me snout pressed against bulkhead. I also find choosing 2F kinda might help to secure double bed to yourself - well I have done so on a couple occasions but that might have just been luck - or - fellow pax didn’t want to be sleeping directly opposite you other side of divider.

But obviously if you are solo and a couple want double combo you would need to be reasonable and move for them - there are def no bad Suites
 
Yes, would absolutely move for a couple and I noted you 'snout' comment on a previous post which was making me feel claustrophobic (even in a suite!!!)...especially with some of the weird window placements - I love looking out the windows on take off/landing.

Another random question, first time flying into Haneda, do we have access to the ANA Arrivals lounge as F SQ passengers?

Are you essentially flying backwards watching the TV in row 1?! I would find that odd!

Have done it ('flying backwards') numerous times on QR QSuites and, apart from TO and landing, when it does feel a bit odd, not an issue.

What's yer poison? I take a temazepam and melatonin but don't necessarily do the trick - certainly not for an extended period.

Besides the cutting down of the number of R places in the new config, what were the other issues with it you alluded to before?

Temazepam give me terrible hallucinations - I take Imovane (Zopiclone) - 1/2 tab can do trick - full tab gives me 7 or 8hrs+ every time.

As for other discussion R that will occur OT over a red 👍

I’ve been fortunate enough to have flown SQ J many times, SQ F several times, and SQ new R a few months ago. I don’t claim to be an expert on SQ premium, and I’ve clearly not flown SQ F/R anywhere near as many here on AFF. On my SQ R flight, I knew from previous SQ flights and experience with most Asian hotels that a very firm mattress can be expected so I set my expectations accordingly. I realise everyone is built and sleeps differently, but I can honestly say that for me the “bed” was the absolute hardest and most uncomfortable experience.

Prior to sleep I drank a fair bit, I took 3 Diazepam and 1 circadian prior. I still couldn’t sleep properly, and if I did get more than 30 minutes light sleep I promptly woke up with upper body, back and hip pain :(

Whenever flying SQ First again for an overnight service, I will definitely avoid R suites and choose regular F. Truly First world problems eh.

Yes there is not a ‘soft’ bed amongst all SQ cabins - Rooey’s blow up mini mattress is a great answer - not that you should need to but that is the state of play - but those mattresses are a tad wide and I find a tad difficult to package in carry on - I need find slightly narrower one

As for boomy’s unhelpful Champs post plenty here currently follow that pursuit but still need a knockout blow - but you have to expect that kind of thing from him once you spend a few nights out babysitting him 👍😎😀
 
MEL will be all 777 and A350 long haul aircraft from 22 November to 31 March 2024 !!!!

"Singapore Airlines (SIA) today announced it will support the year end travel peak with a substantial increase to its operations across all five of Australia’s main airports from late-November.

Subject to regulatory approval, SIA will mount a fifth daily flight to Sydney, taking the Airline’s operations past its pre-Covid capacity.

SIA will also extend its A380 operations to Melbourne for an additional month before redeploying the superjumbo to Auckland and adding a fifth daily flight to the Victorian capital.

Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth will each have additional four-times weekly services added to their schedule, enhancing connectivity to key destinations in Europe and North Asia.

Singapore Airlines Regional Vice President South West Pacific, Mr Louis Arul, said the decision to significantly ramp up SIA’s operations over the year-end holiday period would help support the high-levels of demand that were expected.

“The appetite for travel has been robust over the current mid-year holiday period and signs are that demand will remain elevated as we head into the traditionally strong year-end peak,” Mr Arul said.

The additional services will add almost 7,000 more seats a week between Australia and Singapore, providing more options and choices for customers looking to travel over the December/January period.

Melbourne

SIA’s Airbus A380 to Melbourne on flights SQ237/SQ228 will be extended until 21 November, having previously been scheduled to operate to the Victorian capital until the end of October.

From 22 November, the A380 will be replaced with an Airbus A350-900 and SIA will mount an additional fifth daily service between Singapore and Melbourne using the same aircraft type, with 42 Business Class, 24 Premium Economy and 187 Economy class seats onboard.

Operating as SQ247 between Singapore and Melbourne, the flight will depart Changi Airport at 19:30 and arrive the next morning to Melbourne at 05:55. The return flight will operate as SQ248 and depart Melbourne’s Tullamarine Airport at 07:10, arriving in Singapore at 11:50.

Subject to regulatory approval, the fifth daily service will operate through until 31 March 2024.

“The addition of a fifth daily flight to Melbourne will ensure we maintain capacity above pre-Covid levels, even with the A380 being deployed to Auckland for the peak holiday period,” Mr Arul noted.

“The fifth daily service will provide even more connectivity through to a number of European cities as well as the UK, helping to deliver customers even more travel options to suit their needs.”

SQ227/238 will also undergo an aircraft change from an A350-900 medium-haul to an A350-900 long-haul aircraft.

This change will provide customers with the choice of Premium Economy across all five daily flights from Melbourne, increase the number of premium seats available from the Victorian capital.

Sydney

From 2 December through to 14 January 2024, subject to regulatory approval, Singapore Airlines will mount a new daily service between Singapore and Sydney using an A350-900 aircraft.

SQ261 will depart Singapore’s Changi Airport at 19:05 and arrive in Sydney at 05:55 the next day. The flight will then return to Singapore as SQ212, departing Sydney at 09:05 and arriving into Singapore at 14:15.

SQ211 will continue to operate as a 777-300ER and depart Singapore at 10:30, arriving in Sydney at 21:20, however will return to Singapore the next morning, departing Sydney at 06:45 as SQ262, arriving at 11:55.

“Adding a fifth daily service to Sydney will take our operations past pre-Covid capacity levels and provide more options for customers to connect onto our global network of more than 110 destinations across the globe,” Mr Arul added.

“The addition of the fifth service will ensure customers have a selection of departure and arrival times that will suit their needs, whether travelling for business or leisure.”

Adelaide

The South Australian capital will receive an additional four flights a week from 2 December, with SIA planning to mount SQ276 and SQ277 on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

Pending regulatory approval, SQ277 will depart Singapore at 08:05 and arrive into Adelaide at 17:20.

The flight will then turn-around and depart Adelaide at 18:35 as SQ276 and arrive back into Singapore’s Changi Airport at 22:55 the same day.

“South Australia has continued to grow in popularity for international visitors and we are pleased to be able to support what is expected to be a busy period for South Australia,” Mr Arul said.

“The additional capacity will provide visitors with more opportunities to explore Adelaide’s wineries, summer events or simply relax in the city of churches.

“The additional flights will also support improved connectivity for South Australians looking to travel to the UK and Europe during the year-end holiday period, with SQ276 arriving into Singapore at a key time to connect to our European network.”

Operated by an A350-900 medium-haul aircraft, customers will be able to choose from 40 lie-flat Business Class seats, all with direct aisle access, or 263 ergonomically designed Economy Class seats in a 3-3-3 layout.

Brisbane

From 1 December 2023 through to 13 January 2024, Brisbane will see an additional service operating on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday with the deployment of an A350-900 medium-haul aircraft.

Delivering customers 40 lie-flat Business Class seats, each with direct aisle access and 263 ergonomically designed Economy Class seats in a 3-3-3 layout, SQ265 will depart Changi Airport at 07:15 local time, arriving in Brisbane at 16:55.

The return flight, SQ266 will depart Brisbane at 18:10, arriving to Singapore at 00:05 the next morning.

“The additional four-times weekly services will provide more than 1,200 additional seats a week to the Queensland capital,” Mr Arul said.

“With strong demand for travel to and from Brisbane, the additional connectivity and capacity will ensure Brisbane continues to grow as a major gateway to Queensland’s many attractions.”

Perth

From 24 November 2023 Perth will welcome an additional four flights a week with the introduction of SQ213 and SQ226.

Running until 14 January 2024, SQ213 will depart Changi Airport at 07:40 on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, arriving the same day at 12:55. The return flight SQ226 from Perth to Singapore, will depart at 14:10, arriving back into Changi Airport at 19:30.

The additional four-times weekly services will be operated by SIA’s A350-900 medium-haul aircraft delivering 40 Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 layout and 263 Economy Class seats in a 3-3-3 layout.

“Perth is a highly popular destination for visitors from North and Southeast Asia and the addition of these services will provide even more options for visitors to travel to Western Australia,” Mr Arul added.

“The outbound flights will also connect on to a number of key European cities, providing more options for customers looking to travel from Perth to Europe and the UK.”

Happy with the extra flights to ADL even though the A350 SQ product isn’t great.
Preference is still for the overnight flight back into ADL but the arvo departure suits me better if I want to get a half day of work in before leaving
 
SQ261 will depart Singapore’s Changi Airport at 19:05 and arrive in Sydney at 05:55 the next day. The flight will then return to Singapore as SQ212, departing Sydney at 09:05 and arriving into Singapore at 14:15.

We have been booked on this SQ212 flight for 5 months. Originally a B777 and received notification this morning that our seats have change due to operational reasons - obviously the change to A350. We are flying this leg in Y and had chosen exit row seats on the B777 - the B seat was exit row price but oddly the C seat was a forward zone and as a Gold KF was no charge. Just changed our seats to exit row on the A350 and had to stump up the extra $100+ for the
C seat. I have found the seats on the A350 not very comfortable in economy or business.

Still awaiting a response from SQ with regards to our confirmed and ticketed J seat LHR SIN SYD now showing as Waitlisted.

Starting to wonder whether the universe is telling us something.

Forget about chemicals, listen to Dr Boomy. The best sleeping pill on this planet is called champagne. Drink few glasses, maybe a bottle or two and you’ll be sleeping like a King on the hardest bed 🛌
Definitely my experience on JAL...slept so well they didn't even get to set the bed up 😂 When we disembarked, they handed me my unworn PJs in a gift bag 🙈
 
We have Olympic tickets so we will get to London using SQ with their expanded flight schedules.Getting to Paris should be easy enough.
 
I have lost multiple 1st class seats due to change of airplanes.
I will not winge about 1st class like CE - but I will wing when nearly all my 1st class flights next year have been changed to Business class.

Hey hey CE doesn’t whinge about R or F I just point out the deficiencies - if all 350 SH replaced with LH that is a positive - but post Nov 22 2 daily F cabins ex MEL reduced to 1 daily and it arrives into SIN after most EU flts departed - lunacy - SYD retains 3 R and F cabins daily - MEL schedule a real head scratcher. And the only F cabin to MEL retains same 07:45 dep SIN time which again means ZERO TPR time on EU return routes.
