SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

anyone know whats happening in/around Singapore most Saver and Advantage Rewards flights are waitlisted from 10 June to 26 June.
its not AU nor SG school holidays, those start from 21 june and after.\

This quick view of SQ prices from GoogleFlights shows somethings going down in June - one way from BNE > SIN, particulary from 14-17 - bet nobody can guess the day i really need to go?

Something weird is going on with SQ.

I booked a couple weeks ago and SQ direct booking was asking near $700. I went to a third party site and booked & confirmed the same seat for AUD495.90

Is there any benefit in booking an Advantage KF over a Saver KF redemption if both are available with respect to chance of conversion to a booking

You say ā€œconversion to a bookingā€. Are you talking about a waitlist? If so, why not waitlist both?

Yes.
many flights have both Saver and advantage wait list.
Not enough points to waitlist both.

The points arenā€™t removed when you waitlist. So waitlist to your hearts content!

If your waitlist clears, then you will have to call up and handover your points.

Is it only me, or does the app show "No fare deals right now" ex SYD for everyone the past few days? Is this unusual?

It's defaulting to ex SIN under "Recommendations for you", and when I click through and change to SYD there's nothing.

Have 2 * F booking in May SYD to LHR via SIN (of course)

We have a connecting flight to Iceland about 4 hours after arrival in LHR . This flight is a seperate booking with Iceland Air, so nothing to do with Singapore Air.

Can we enter the Sing first class longe in LHR after arrival and wait for the unrelated connecting flight ?

Quick question. Have 4.5 hr layover in Singapore before flying JAL (business class šŸ¤—) to Tokyo. Would I have time to dash to a store inside jewel and still have time to chill in the lounge?

Yeah provided your first flight isn't late.
Just check your arrival terminal and how to get to jewel from there. T3 is easy I know

4.5 hrs is plenty of time to visit Jewel.

Twice with about 4.5hrs between work and personal trips, I've gone home, had a shower, repacked, and returned to an airport for the new flight, including some time in the lounge. And going to Jewel doesn't involve 2x25 min taxi rides.

Well if I was the airline and both types were waitlisted, I would award the Advantage waitlist first as it earns more.

So if so, would waitlisting both then just guarantee you get Advantage with no chance of the Saver???

Or do you believe that Waitlisted Saver and Advantage are from entirely separate award buckets?

I donā€™t know, sorry. I guess they only way to find out is to waitlist savers on some flights and advantage on others and see if any clear.

Q: If advantage J wait list does not convert after 2 weeks on waitlist for a trip in Apr/May, can I assume itā€™s not going to
At some point I will have to go the revenue route. When should I abandon?

I would assume 99% chance of not converting when searching these flights. i.e if you search flights and see it waitlisted, assume you won't get it confirmed.
Depends on route though. I've waitlisted many MEL-SIN and SIN-MEL without any converting. I waitlisted SGN-SIN and vice versa and had a SGN-SIN approve for this month. Couldn't find any flights in or out of Aus so didn't bother with it.

The general advice here is book what you really want, whether its via revenue or points, and waitlist your secondary preference. If that get approved, then cancel your original flight and confirm the waitlist. You'll need to make sure return flight isn't affected by cancelling the original ticket. So best to book 2x one ways if possible on reward tickets.
