SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I'm booked in J to fly SIN to AMS landing in AMS at 7:15AM

Is there an arrival lounge I could use in AMS?
I'm also *A Gold & Priority Pass if that helps :)

Yesterday there was a family with two youngsters in the lounge who left their BPs on the table in plain sight next to us . They were in Y and dad was KF gold. So he got partner and 2 youngsters into the BNE lounge.

Rejected at the front desk. 1 guest only. No issue at the NZ lounge though. Lovely bright open space here so perhaps a blessing in disguise.

Hopefully not a dumb question. If I’m flying on J can I enter any star alliance lounge? Departing from perth and find that the Perth KF Lounge busy and wondered if I can go to the NZ lounge

Yes you can. They may try to steer you to the SQ lounge but stand your ground with something like "but this one is so much better".

What about the Sydney F lounge (he asks a bit apprehensively)?

Was there on Thu morning.
The lounge is quite nice and done tastefully.
They had menu service and a sit down restaurant area.
Didn’t imbibe since it was morning. But they had jw blue in the spirits section. Not a wine person so can’t comment on that

Thanks. What about check-in & baggage drop?

Welcome @Vivyn .

We will be flying AMS-SIN-SYD in J in April. I've read that seats blocked for PPS etc like 11A, 11D, 11F, 11K open up to everyone at T-48 for SIN to/from Europe & USA flights, and at T-96 for all other flights. Since the SQ323 AMS-SIN leg will open up at T-48, when OLCI opens, is it possible that we may be able to log in at T-96 for the SQ211 SIN-SYD leg and see if any of the row 11 seats are available to select, or because the flights are on the one booking are we likely to have to wait until OLCI opens 48 hours before?

Well before covid a was able to move into the bulk head seats at T-48. Recently I have seen those seats grabbed months before by status holders.

All depends on the other passengers and their status as to what you will get to choose

Thanks jbman. I realise that most of these seats will have already been grabbed earlier but it's still worth a try. I was mainly wondering whether I would be able to see any of these bulk head seats at T-96 for the SIN-SYD leg without waiting for the AMS-SIN leg to open up at 48 hours with OLCI. I'll try and see what happens anyhow.

A bit concerned when I got an email from SQ this morning that started:

"We regret to inform you that due to operational requirements, we are unable to provide you with the original seat and/or cabin class that you have selected."

However, on checking the booking on-line, our Saver F award LHR-SIN on SQ305, 27 June has been changed from a 777 to a 380 so becomes an R redemption. So smiles all around. Now have a 380 all the way SYD to LHR and back to SIN but still a 777 on the last sector to MEL. Very happy to have secured all as 2xSaver awards given the loading next northern spring/summer.

I think I can now cancel some WL I have out of LHR, FRA and ZRH on June 27 that I was holding as SQ305 is a 0930 departure and an arrival in SIN at 0530. But an upgrade to a 380 makes it worth taking even if I had to make an award connection from ZRH the evening before and have an overnight at the T2 Garden Inn. The saving of 2xLHR Airport Departure Tax easily covers a night at Heathrow.
