SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

You are right that there are no revenue seats for sale!.Strange....I booked an award Syd-Sin- Ist for Oct 27 10 days ago and have been looking for a return from Europe (any port) in early Nov and am finding nothing....not sure why the fares / awards are not loaded as yet.
This has happened in the past at odd times. No doubt they will suddenly appear in the not too distant future for reasons unknown to we mere punters.

To those who took up the ‘250,000pts Transfer to Unlock Elite Gold’ offer - did the 50,000 Elite Miles actually appear in your Status Indicator or did it just unlock Elite Gold? In my account I see the bonus 7,500 Elite Miles appear in Status Indicator but not the 50K

It’s the summer/winter schedule change. Always seems to delay SQ sales on the changeover.

3 weeks until I'm back on SQ, with my last trip was during January 2020

I'm excited and apprehensive at the same time

We are heading off to Singapore, Germany, France, Switzerland and Scotland over 8 weeks.

So far the only headache has been missing out on Suites due to not having 4 seats available and the downgrading of 777 services to A350's to/from MEL/SIN

We were originally excited to have 2 x 777s and 2 x A380s, but have ended up in J on 2 x regional A350's, 1 A380 and 1 777.

I'll be totally relaxed once checked into the MEL KF lounge and enjoying breakfast with a glass of bubbles

All the very best to you
I was in your boat Sept 22 and they did not disappoint.
Have a great trip
I also hope F returns to MEL / booked x3J in May 23 and keeping close watch for metal changes
🍾🍾✈️

Penny for your thoughts….How long after arrival you can access The Private Room?

I’m arriving in F at 9.30pm (staying Crowne Plaza) then flying out J at 3pm the next day. I’m probably not up for a visit on arrival night, but I feel that it’s too cheeky to expect to visit the next day.

Technically same day arrival - but in days gone by I have had access on day of arrival and asked if ok if I return breakfast next morn prior to dep on another carrier and this was permitted. Granted staff did know me - but go ask -worst case scenario will be ‘Sorry we can’t permit that’

Thanks for the speedy reply!

Quick question for the experts...

I'm trying to book IST-SIN-DPS in W (there's no availability in C on the date)
Looking at individual legs there's availability in premium economy from IST to SIN (saver award) and in Y (saver) from SIN to DPS (there's no premium economy cabin on the second leg).

According to the saver awards chart, going from zone 10 to zone 2 in W it's 43k miles and for mixed award I should be charged at the redemption level of the highest class of service flown (even if the second leg is in Y) which is fair enough.

Problem is when I call to book (cannot do mixed awards online) they insist on charging me 51.5k miles being 43k for the first leg in W plus 8.5k for the second leg in Y.

Is the call center correct or do I have a point here?

It should be the ‘through’ fare… I wonder if it’s some married segment issue and they have to split the booking? Is IST-SIN-DPS showing in Y as an available through routing for the flights you want?

In any case if you call back and they still want to charge 2 separate tickets, ask them to explain exactly why.

This is nuts. SQ is chockers at the moment. I am looking at any Y seat SYD-SIN in December 2022 and there is nil availability! Am I doing something wrong?

Just took a look on expert flyer and looks like most days are at 0 in both Y and J

Any luck on Scoot?

Question re transit stopover.
We are flying MEL-SIN-FRA-SIN-MEL in March/April in J.
Arriving in SIN at 0015 and depart same morning 1055, then on the return arrive SIN 0650 and depart next day at 0745.
Not planning to leave the airport on the way over, but am looking forward to a quick noodle break at the hawkers market on our return.
Which transit hotel to you recommend at Changi? Am planning to check luggage all the way through so will just have cabin bags.
Not sure if it's worth hoping for a sleeping recliner in the Krisflyer lounge on the way over or if I should just book one of the transit hotels to be sure.
On the return legs, we could stay outside the airport but don't want to be too far away given the early morning departure.
Thoughts? My brain can't do trip planning anymore 🤪

Some good news...SQ will be returning the A380 to MEL (SQ237/SQ228) in mid May next year, as well as a second service to SYD.

The not so good news is that it will be removed from JFK to allow for this up gauge.

Great news for this part of the world. The SQ forum in Flyertalk will go ballistic, that particular forum exists largely to talk about Suites redemptions between JFK and FRA/SIN 🤣

Recently flew BNE-SIN-FRA-SIN-BNE. Had a 10 hour transit outbound with a 6 hour booking in the T1 Aerotel. Had a 4 hour transit inbound and thought I would just try the recliners in the KF lounge in T3. Had No problem getting one but gave up eventually as the constant stream of staff and people in and out was impossible to sleep. Will take a transit hotel every time now if transit length is suitable

Is this definitely confirmed? I have J Saver waitlisted for mid next year from SYD.
