SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Any chance my flight leaving 22/9 SQ 0208 MEL SIN swapped with an F class - if only - would happily pay for upgrade
We received an offer to upgrade our (points paid) J leg from SIN to LHR for $6300 per person... no option given to use points.
I'm guessing that was more than the cost difference of a paid ticket back in July, maybe not now!

So my better half will be flying J on her birthday in October, FRA-SIN-SYD. It's a redemption and I did try to move it to a day later in order to organise a birthday dinner, however I just couldn't manage it. So, I guess we will be looking for a little bit of love from the SIA crew. Does anyone have any suggestions how to orchestrate this and how far in advance to ask? Obviously not expecting too much, maybe just a slice of cake if possible.

Let them know after you board. You might get a bottle of bubbles.
Flying back HKG-SYD in 1986, a couple of naughty sisters from CBR whom we'd met during our stay in HKG, told the FA we were on a honeymoon. We weren't, but the 4 of us drank bubbles on Qantas. 🤣

Looking at a trip to the EU somewhere August, nice to see sub $6000 J fares easily bookable on the A380 and the preferred flights too :)

R/F down to about $10,800 return as well

Email them beforehand and they will arrange a cake and possibly a bear or two

Seated in J on SQ306 right now 35 mins out from LHR. SIA generously found two seats on this flight @ no change fee saving us from a 13 hour layover at Changi. Redemption booking too. Great service on both flights and enjoyed the updated SilverKris lounge at Changi.

We arrived in SIN 4.5 hours ago on 316 from LHR. Our experience not so good. When I booked this trip I made sure that I booked the A380 flights on both sectors. Both had a change to the B777. We both hate the J seats on SQ.s 777s. Damn uncomfortable.

Service not as good. Food very average and no PJs for an overnight flight.

To top it off we were first at the baggage carousel but our 1 case was very close to last out.

Starting to think where to send my Amex points to instead of KF.

That’s disappointing. We had an IFE annoyance on our last flight which left a sour taste (apologies offered profusely, but no compensation unlike when it happened in F). Baggage was a dream every leg (love that you can see on the app that your bag has been loaded!)
SQ don’t do J PJs (at least since i’ve been flying with them)

They’re not perfect, but until I find another program / airline with the ease & availability of KF (I’m frowning at you, Qantas!) I‘m sticking with them.

That's disappointing. I had a very minor issue when I last flew in J (my call button didn't work resulting in three total resets of my IFE in an attempt to fix it taking 10-15mins each time.) I was given a $100SD voucher to spend in the KrisShop. I tried to refuse the voucher saying that I don't ever use my call button and that it wasn't a bother at all.

Today I had an email from SQ saying a 10 minute change in our January J award flight. Within 5 minutes the new e tickets arrived in the inbox.
QF take note.
It’s not hard, is it? I’ve had two JL flight changes booked through QF both which required me to accept the change for the re-ticketing to occur. Just happened to be messing around in MMB and came across it when I was deep into it!

When & how did you ask about shifting to the earlier flight?

Well today’s flight is better though I did have to ask for champagne as my PDB. Food and service better though. Now just have to hope our bag is out quickly when we arrive at BNE.

Has anyone got any recent feedback re lounges in Milan. We have a J reward flight that leaves around 2pm. SQ377. I can see there is the Sala Montale where they charge 20 bucks for a shower and overall the lounge was pretty ordinary when we were last there
