SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I have 4 * Y SQ LAX-SIN-SYD awards booked for early January (yes horror but that's all I can book for awards at that time given the time of the year). I am KF Elite Gold, my wife and my 2 kids are Elite Nothing... Would all 4 of us be able to get to SilverKris/Gold lounge at LAX/SIN?

Say one was to have a commercial Y MEL-SIN-xx_ ticket booked on SQ, and a mySQupgrade offer is received, however it only covers the SIN-xx_ segment.

The upgrade is accepted (Y -> J), so the itinerary is now MEL-SIN (Y) and SIN-xx_ (J).

Could one in theory use the J check-in line at MEL? For those that have been to MEL recently, specifically the SQ check-in line, calling it crowded would be an understatement. Any opportunity to skip that hassle would be welcome.

Would the staff turn one away or would they just process you? Asking for a friend.

on sunday i flew LHR - SIN - BNE. I used mySQupgrade to go from Economy to Premium Ecc. I used the Premium check in at LHR and they didn't say anything about my bags being overweight by about 1 kg (so i assume the 35kg for premium applied all the way - if they did i would have taken the 3 Kgs of newspapers out from the day after the queens death)

Am advised there is also now Global shortage of Amenity Packs - SQ just cannot get enough produced quickly enough - flts dep SIN are being prioritized and other dep ports being filled ASAP - 25 today no APs in R as insufficient stock in SIN to supply FRA - this instead:

Now how is this - Crew just advised if I want they will send 1 to my home address - I said no need - they said maybe they won’t have a choice here it might be automatic
Still no first class amenity kits in Suites departing FRA, so each passenger yesterday was given a $75 KrisShop voucher. Will use it to buy some booze next time flying through Changi!

I received a Suites amenity kit ex FRA early September. Dom ‘08 on my flight.

My first time in new Suites, and while it was impressive overall, I can’t say I found the bed comfortable because it’s so hard. I’m a side sleeper so that made it worse.

Sounds like a job for my 'air mattress'.

Me too on 31st August.

No issues with the bed for me, slept fine though I do sleep on my back mostly

Hi everyone. Just been contact by SQ advising my second leg of journey flight has been moved back 1 day.

Originally details
28/4 MEL-SIN SQ208 J 18.25 to 00.15 (still booked)
29/4 SIN-IST SQ392 J 01.45 to 07.45 (changed)

They are offering me SQ392 still in business class but now leaving 30/4 ie 1 day and 1.5 hour layover.

I’m assuming no SQ392 on the original date.

My question, having never dealt much with SQ, is can I ask for the flight to SIN to be change to the next day given SQ forced the change. Doesn’t appear to be saver availability for any flight from MEL-SIN on 29/4.

Would like to know if I can push for less connection time or should I just live with 1 day 1.5 hour stopover it given still in J?

Request a connecting flight with a reasonable time! It’s a bit unfair to ask you to wait 24+ hours at your own expense.

Had a similar situation in late July and they said nothing can be done. Take it or leave it.

You can. And their terms and conditions actually specify this. Only issue is that the outsourced call centre doesn’t seem to understand it. Tell them they need to “request a seat release from the flight controller due IROPS”. That should trigger something in their heads.

I'm due to fly SQ222 suites from SYD-SIN, arrival time 2120. No connecting flight. Would love to check out the new private room on arrival - but will I be too wined and dined from the flight already? Is there any issue with delaying baggage collection by an hour? Does the suitcase just go round and round on the carousel?

I don’t think you will be too wined and dined. Usually towards the end of the flight people are winding down on their food and drink. An hour or so break before landing and you’ll be right to continue in the PR :)

Pre-covid luggage was taken off the belt and stored at the left luggage office immediately adjacent to the carousel. I dunno if that’s changed.

Just make sure you exit at the correct arrival terminal, as that’s where your luggage will be. So if you land at T2 but go to the lounge in T3, you’ll need to head back to T2 to pick up your bags. (of course arriving at T3 no issues.)

So called up, got though after 2 minute wait. They could see the issue and moved the first flight back a day so that I’m still on the original flights just one day later.

No hassles fixing despite original booking being on saver J award and there being no saver J awards left (there was an advantage award). Didn’t even have to push the issue.

Luckily I had planned to get into Istanbul a day earlier than needed, just lost that spare day. Will now cancel my plans for that spare day.

Also lost my original seats but I’m told all seats on A350-900 in J are equally good.

While having flight moved a day isn’t great at least it was easy to resolve.

Crikey that’s a curly one -TBH I do not know but i would assume access to TPR only based on SIN being dep or arr port.

SQ F lounge staff were channeling you, as they provided almost the same answer when I checked with them yesterday morning "that's a tricky one" (exact words) ... "I don't know". I don't think it's something that's been contemplated.

Were pyjamas available even though the amenity kits were not? We fly SYD-SIN-LHR in February for the first time in Suites so hopefully the shortage will be sorted by then.

I have 2 F rdpts FRA-SIN-MEL in June 23 - have just been notified of flt changes - appears swap of metal 777 on 217 to 207 - 350 swapped 207 to 217 - keeps you on your toes huh?
