SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Also... I was about to book my next SQ award SYD-SIN-IST-CMN which has been coming up fine previously, however now I am getting a "no availability" error. It's finding the seats if I search SYD-IST and then IST-CMN but won't find them together. Is there a married segment rule with SQ or is it likely a website error?

Again tightening of R/F availability proving RRPITA - last 10yrs incl this year have always secured R Saver on 25 FRA-SIN but no go for next year - cannot even W/L - can W/L on 325 which is 777 but I don’t like timings. Looks like it will J up the back with the Angels again.

Likewise, R availability really shocking these days (though on the flip side, still better than any other airline).
Weird though that 25's availability is hampered even though it's the old 380 bird. Ex-USA (JFK) punters must be really hitting the SQ Suites hard. Not surprising given their churning culture.

I am planning on transferring my 100K points from Velocity to Kris Flyer as I intend to book PE/Business class tickets from Melbourne to Paris in the month of July 2020. Is it a good idea to transfer the points or just buy the revenue tickets. I am Krisflyer Silver if that helps me get priority in booking the tickets.

Appreciate any points/suggestions.

Seems to be plenty of PE or J options. I'd go for a reward seat.

Booked bassinet seats six+ months ahead for Sunday night flight. Last minute swap meant row 19 was to the rear of the cabin. Raised it with crew but they didn't appear keen to facilitate a seat swap so I got stuck holding the little one the whole way home 😭

That must have been difficult. Did you try escalating it to the Ground staff after landing ?

I always thought passengers with infants get priority to get the bassinet seat.

Not even a spare seat - was it all full?

No points after the fact. You'd think they would have checked infant seating when the swap was done but apparently not. We booked the bassinet before the Miss was even born.

Every seat was taken, including all four bassinet seats (by people without babies).

That's not good to hear, which flight was this? Was it to MEL?

I recently booked row 15 & 19/baby seat/bulk head on SQ flights, knowing that I risk being bumped. I would expect to be bumped if someone with a baby comes onboard, sorry theyre not being pro active.

I'll make sure I tell the FA on boarding to let me know if I need to be moved for a mum/dad and bub.
