SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Unfortunately we were only here for the day (arrived at lunch on the train from Munich) so didn't do much. My limited impressions is it would be nicer to visit in summer despite how pretty the snow cover is. It isn't too dissimilar to Germany in my experience.

It is very very expensive though but that is to be expected. This trip we are only here due to the good Suite availability. I would be keen to come back again.

Yes D go thru London as it is available. The flight from London to NYC is not a biggie. Sometimes we go between London and Los Angeles and that is best done as a sleeper flight.

solo or 2 travellers? also worth trying SIN-JFK first as it may also be the MEL-SIN leg which is causing the issues

Thanks for the advice,

Yeah it will be two travellers, but I'm searching for one seat at the moment. I'll have a look at SIN-JFK.

I am about 6 months early... But trying to prepare myself for what to expect when June/July comes around..

To be honest we are going to East Coast USA this year so will spend some in New York.

But I noticed that a suites redemption to Europe vs all the way to North America is only 5000 points more in F. Seems like too good a value to pass up.

Hi,
I'm looking for 2xJ from any European port to ADL for any period Sep 20-24th. I've got QFF, SQ and Asia miles to use. It's a bit of a challenge but I can find flights to SIN or HKG but trouble getting to ADL (as both SQ and CX have only 1 flight per day). Can you recommend any alternate routes and if not, which city should I lock down for now (SIN V HKG) and await flights to open up??
Cheers

Cruiser will be happy boarding passes printed on correct stock and TPR invites provided.

No gold pen though.

ZRH and FRA always get it right - SIN F checkin only place you will get the GOLD ink - standard procedure for me and MEL if we have >2hrs in SIN is pass immigration and wander back up to F checkin and re-enter terminal to collect GOLD embossed TPR invite.

Slightly off topic, lounge wise: is there one in Paris for SQ when flying J/F/R? I googled (badly, admittedly) and it seemed to suggest I needed to be star alliance something? Surely not!

Out of the 4 eurpopean Suite departure cities, do people have a preferred airport / lounge?

When I flew out of CDG on SQ J in early 2013, it was a star alliance lounge and certainly not much chop. Not sure if things have changed much since then but the Senator lounge you can access if flying F out of Zurich looks pretty impressive!

If you like Whisky then the ZUR Senator E lounge can't be beaten.

I could have spent hours there trying things I have never heard of.

In general your J/F boarding pass will get you access to any star alliance business or first class lounge (respectively). This is lounge access based on class of service rather than star alliance status.

The major exceptions being Lufthansa and Swiss First class lounges which are reserved for LH/LX/OS F class and HON pax only, and the TPR in SIN (SQ F only).

The new Senator Lounges in ZRH are probably the pick of the bunch for F class pax. Outside Europe the TG F lounge is probably one of the better ones. I can't think of any others that jump out.

They had approximately 200 bottles to sample so a long layover would be advisable.

Food wasn't anything special but adequate for a morning departure.

When I recently booked Suites for +1 and myself SYD-SIN-FRA-JFK I booked almost a year out.
I was constantly looking for availability and found seats on the third day.
The seats are there, you just need to keep checking and be flexible in your departure date.
TomV. gave me a bit of a heads up too which helped.

Thank you for the advice. When June rolls around that is exactly what I'll be doing.

Did you book one way, and if so did you add the stopover in FRA?

I just did a search and it's still showing the 330 on the 256 route at the moment.Has anyone spoken to SQ about the 777 seat allocation on this flight from the suggested date of 22 Aug?

I am convinced there is something wrong. I can find heaps of availability one year out to MEL-SIN-CDG, LHR, ZUR. But nothing MEL-SIN-FRA and nothing FRA-JFK.

I'm sure everything who has successfully booked this route thinks I'm probably just a rookie who can't figure it out, but have a look for yourself..

Perhaps it has something to do with the new aircraft/cabins that are being launched this year.

i'm sure you've read the past pages - it's got to be top 5 hardest route to book, especially with 2. like others, i booked JFK-SYD a year in advance for my honeymoon.

LHR not a fair example as multiple flights/day too.
