I have been doing a bit of googling on this. There are a few threads on Flyertalk about intermittent problems with this issue. One said that sometimes pointing CSRs towards the One way Saver awards chart, more specifically within the general notes and the bit I have highlighted. SQ.jpg This can be used as support that mixed class redemption bookings are allowed.

I can confirm for my self this method did not work. As at the end - he said "yes I can see it but we have changed our policy". Whilst I did manage to redeem them as a "true fare" this time, he said there's a note on my account that this is now a once off, so next time it won't work.

Oh oh, it's on your permanent record. Might as well stop flying all-together.

On the case - should have definitive response am morrow.

Get 'em Cruiser!

Sounds dodgy to me! Well at least you got the correct redemption.

Taxes on CNX-SIN-BNE return are ~THB14,500 or ~AUD560.

Makes my 42,500 Amex points worth very little. Seriously don't know why I bother.

OK an update but not the definitive answer I was hoping.

YES in April there were some minor changes to Ts & Cs of KF rdpt bookings - call ctr staff have been briefed but apparently some inconsistencies in briefing notes distributed to call ctr staff - some matters including the 'Mixed Class Redemptions' are yet to be clarified.

Staff with greater tenure in SQ / KF Call Ctr are definitely retaining older long standing position - newer staff who do not have their heads around long standing procedures are ones confused in this matter - indeed the dude Alexy spoke to yesterday is quite new.

Best advice I have ATPIT is be firm on your requests for 'Mixed Class Redemptions' as more experienced staff will certainly continue to book them for you until this matter is 100% clarified - no time frame offered on that.

Thanks for following up for us Cruiser.
Sounds like if at first you don't succeed, then try again.

Sounds like if at first you don't succeed, then try again.

I seem to recall being taught that Robert the Bruce first coined that phrase (who knows), but it was a little different....."If at first you don't succeed, then try and try again".

Most airlines (can't comment on SQ) need multiple clubs with a baseball bat before they flinch.......multiple try-agains may be in order, however I also seem to recall Mark Twain refining it a bit as well ..... "If at first you don't succeed, try and try again.....then give up as there's no point being a fool about it"!

Tenaciousness tempered by self-preservation may be the order of the day! ;)

Thanks Cruiser, will await their response.

Can anyone tell me the difference between J class in a Boeing 777-300ER SQ231 vs Airbus Industrie A380-800 SQ221.

Maybe airlines just need to give us IT system access so we can do it ourselves quicker and easier. They can cut staff costs and pax can stop banging their heads against a brick wall. Win-win!

Difference between 777ER and A380 are minimal. Either is a fantastic hard product.

If you're on non-ER or A330 aircraft it's a different' hardware configuration.

Cheers so don't fly non-ER or A330. Obviously there's a chance a 777ER could get switched with a non-ER 777.

Hi all, so I called the Sydney KrisFlyer centre to make my mixed class redemption booking and was initally advised it would have to be two separate bookings but I read out the detail from the award chart and asked the agent to investigate. He came back a few minutes later and said that was correct and processed it as a F redemption. Thanks for posting and highlighting that wording as it really helped. The agent's name was Joe in case anyone wants to ask for him - he was lovely and efficient.

Does anyone know if I land at SIN on a F ticket and depart the same day in J but having paid for a F redemption, will I be allowed into the F or J lounge? Many thanks.

Yes you will have access to TPR and F Lounge - if you paid F rates for a mixed class booking you are eligible for F benefits entirety of booking.

What was the number you called to get a mixed redemption at F? I'm having all sorts of trouble getting MEL-HAN priced as a F redemption today (currently on 3rd call) rather than a MEL-SIN F, and a SIN-HAN J.

Call 02 8228 1188 - that will get you straight through to SQ/KF call Ctr in SIN - call this number and this number only for all SQ rdpt matters.
