SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

No satay on 222, but it’s been that way for a while I think.

It’s on the menu ex JNB which is a pretty nasty thought if it’s actually catered in Singapore as the aeroplane does a CPT return in the middle 😳

Oops... I will be on that flight in a couple of weeks JNB from CPT, if I remember I will check that out. 😁

We were served satay PER-SIN on 25th August, so I don't think this is quite right.

We got on BNE-SIN few weeks ago and it was supper services. Satay on SQ is a bit of lottery ATM.
Hmmm seems this needs further investigation - 336 IFM Ahmet was on a recent PER-SIN flt and yes they served Satay - he found it strange as he thought no Satay ex Oz ports - anyway he is going to investigate and see if he can get complete deets and will email me 👍 I will post his findings

I thought that may have been you on SQ336 today Cruiser. I heard you being welcomed back on board, name didn’t ring a bell but I thought recognised your face. We’ve never met but you’ve been helpful answering questions by PM.
Bummer, wished I had asked ‘is that you Cruiser?’

I think loads to CDG and ZRH are still lower than pre pandemic

Not so sure about that. Maybe correct regarding "to" but from CDG and ZRH to SIN, flights are very full.

Over the next week:
- there are 10 flights CDG-SIN and I counted 27 seats currently still on sale (all <9 so can be confident that reflects actual numbers still remaining), so that's 2.7 vacant seats per flight on average.
- there are 7 flights ZRH-SIN and I counted 16 seats currently still on sale, so that's 2.3 vacant seats per flight on average.

Much more open in the other direction.

Agree yes FROM is full as people come home from Summer Euro holidays.

Insane busy season is only a few weeks away, not looking forward to my December and January flights and travel around EU

Not very full compared to SQ's SYD flights I think. MEL's not going to get aircrafts upgrades anytime soon.
Except you quoted the loadings that CE gave for the CDG flight. The MEL flight was almost full in premium classes (only 1 spare J seat across F/J/S) but still had 31 empty Y seats - knowing SQ despite they were probably selling only top Y fares buckets , they leave lower fares very to Scoot these days.

Indeed across the board SQ are basically filling flts especially prem end without offering lower class fares. Even Crew on 336 the other night were staggered I was the only pax - you just don’t see that now they commented

Pretty sure demand for premium has been nearly all Aust-based recently. ABS figs for short-term visitor arrvls show historical monthly numbers of 702k, 741k and 789k for the month of Aug in the years 2017, 18 and 19. In Aug 22 that number was 348k visitors, of which 140k came from NZ, India and Singapore. Leaving Aust in July 22 were 968k residents, and returning in Aug were 1.027k residents.

There's a stat for everything of course, and I dont want a war over stats, but Aust tourism observations/anecdotes are that Intl backpacker numbers are way way down, the Chinese arent able to travel and much of the world is finding it too expensive (and/or dont want) to fly as far as Aust, so not a surprise SQ and others, who have enjoyed super tight premium over the Northern summer (as Australians headed for 'anywhere OS') are now finding things a bit easier up the pointy end, while lower class fares/loadings continue showing some slack. Until the Year-end rush..

Seems like good change if SQ keeps offering choice of two champagnes in F. Means that Krug will be served on every flight unlike the current situation where some routes such as FRA are exclusively Comtes/Dom.

A bit more on the dropping of Dom from SQ:

As an update to my post up thread here not all PAX may be so honest. I was more than happy to be reunited with my gadget bag (Rimowa mini bag) yesterday however after receiving it was not quite a full as when it was lost. The AU charger x2 USB A and x2 USB C connections, a USB C to lighting cable, the USB C to 3.5mm and lighting to 3.5mm adaptors have all gone astray. I can only conclude as my gadget bag continued its journey without me those who came across it had no need for for an apple watch charger or an apple mouse or pencil. If the FR24 are correct the gadget bag travelled: SIN-JFK, JFK-SIN, SIN-EWR, EWR-SIN, SIN-JFK, JFK-SIN.

For all the hype about Covid cleaning on aircraft I am left pondering how my little bag journeyed US/SIN 3 times before it was found.
