SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Gday

Need to book 2 pax from IST- SYD in J for travel later in 2018. At the moment there is only one saver seat available. Is there any difference in the chance of a waitlist clearing for these two options:

- booking the available one seat and then doing a separate booking to waitlist another seat; or
- putting a waitlist in the system for two seats on the one booking.

Any input appreciated.

Pele.

Hi - just another question with BTC
It says something about booking 48 hrs before the flight . Is that 48 hrs before the actual SG-CBR leg? I can't change the menu now - even though the SG-CBR leg is in 8 days or so, but the CBR-SG leg is less then 48hrs.
or is it just a system glitch?

edit: and one more question - does holding a J SQ ticket, let me access the virgin lounge?

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

What type of liquids are they GMOH? Are they drinkable ones?
We don’t buy duty free as it is generally cheaper in Los Angeles or London.

Thanks Mel, I ‘spose SIN duty free will put it in the req’d security bag so I’ll risk it.
Cove, once every 2 years or so I replenish a bottle. If I get the SIN transit SGD20 coupon to spend it is worth it.

I dunno about that. For larger items like alcohol they deliver them to the gate (no tamper proof bag). I wonder if you ask for one they will give it to you?

I'm just not sure whether flights to the USA ex EU have higher LAG requirements. I'm not 100% sure but I had a feeling that both BKK and HKG, while they will allow tamper proof bags for most flights, won't allow them for Australia?

Ok good thinking, I’ll ask if they give a customs tamper preof bag. If not, no purchase ... I’ll mull this over. Maybe I can get a number for FRA security HO. o_O

That or a google search might turn up some data points.

For contingency you can buy a $2 clear plastic container from the supermarket or somewhere like Chemist Warehouse. Decant liquid into that at checkpoint if needed and put into LAG bag.

Jet lag helps doesn’t it. Don’t trust anything I said/say yesterday and today.
Of course it would be 100 mls but you wanted the bigger size.

Can anyone tell me what the meal service is on SQ218 departing at 00.05
I cant see a supper, just breakfast so I think I'll just go straight to sleep after take-off. Not sure I could eat the Angus burger for breakfast, Cruiser.....

(Probably will dine at the airport after check-in, using PP x2 - any suggestions on the best of the three "cafes" listed with PP?)

I cannot help you Duffa as I no longer post on AFF - but you are my cobber so best i make an exception.

218 is 350 right? Make sure you have bulkhead seat - I assume you have no status so call KF and ask for bh seat in row 11 - little chance you will get one but worth asking - I did actually book one online 2 weeks ago with zero status.

If row 11 not available ask for bh seat 19D or 19F - yes these are bassinet seats but little chance they will be reqd on 218.

I never eat on 218 - anytime F lounge access gives me plenty champs and food if I want it pre-boarding but your PP plan sounds ok - I never eat bf on 218 either - sleep from go to whoa - they had Taittinger in T3 J lounge 2 weeks ago - big big come down from CH but what do you do? See plonk - drink plonk - you know the drill.

BTW - how is Risotto - tell her penegal and Cruiser are still waiting for her to join us for dinner - she talks a heap more sense than her old man does!

Come home cruiser!

I seem to remember reading that you can’t check in at SYD more than three hours in advance. If that is the prevailing thought, I got in at 1300 for the 1805 flight.
