Tommy the name is Cruiser Elite not Cruiserdamus - who knows what the future holds! If the PH Rare not good enough for you I'll get CX to ship some of their top shelf Peninsular across from one of those stellar HKG Lounges if you like?

I think he was hoping to enjoy both (as was I for that matter).

Are you sure that it's not??

And I thought that they dropped that stuff when they dropped The Peninsula

Yes Tommy the Peninsular bubbles went out the door with Peninsular - it was more a half smart cough comment about the quality of Champs that CX serve in their F Lounges - I think you know how I roll?

I quizzed TPR Lounge staff about reinstatement departure board within TPR - they simply rolled their eyes and said latest advice is later this year - but sooner the better.

They have had multiples probs with pax fronting to wrong gates and actually missing flts - biggest prob is with the Chinese whose grasp of oral English less than perfect. A simple visual check by way of dep board and prob goes away.

Just take it all in LadyC - drink / eat / relax / drink some more - enjoy everything on offer. We spent 6hrs there last night - that is getting way towards extent of time I want to spend there in one block.

I got 2 separate tickets J class tickets ( different eticket number ). Is it possible ring up SQ , and combine them together ? so i can get 1 free transit at SIN. Cheers

I have 8 hour layover next week - will definitely be exploring all of the terminals as well as visiting the TPR.

If you layover is during the day you might consider some TPR time + the free singapore tour. Or even TPR + the pool!
Travelling with toddler so will spend a few of the hours trying to keep him awake! I think we will be riding the train a bit :D

+1 for the pool. The best investment for anyone with kids and daylight hours to burn

A further possible update to being able do early bag drop in SYD, response from my SQ online query:

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your email.

We wish to advise that our check-in counter at Sydney Airport will be opened from 5.55am on the day of your departure and will close 40 minutes prior to the flight's scheduled departure.

As such you will be able check-in yourself and your baggage at 10am.

We thank you for taking the time to write to us.

Yours Sincerely,

Am currently ensconced in SKL F MEL - I have had 'audience' with SQ MEL Operations Manager - she made call to SYD and clarified position - SYD do not offer all day checkin or all day bag drop - they adhere strictly to 3/3.5hr pre dep checkin but due to flt timings Lounge stays open all day from 3hr pre dep 212 to dep 242.
Hope this helps gmoh - but by all means call SQ at SYD and ask again. Sorry I do not have their number.

MEL on the other much more customer friendly - F and J pax can check in any time that they front on day of travel - if flts very full then Y pax will also be accommodated. Luggage will be held upstairs til 3hr pre flt then sent down the chute.

hmmm.. ye olde conundrum.... call centre v actual airport operations... in general I always say that call centres are an excellent source of knowledge... for fares and ticketing. Anything else, visas, baggage, checkin times, lounges... the airport staff are the ones in the know.

Will be be interesting which one is right in this case!

What we need now is SQ's SYD Manager's name. I will respond to that email with the info from the SYD people that CE got. Doesn't make sense either that MEL does one thing and SYD another. It's not like it's 23 Hours including an overnight.

I suspect that CE having talked to SYD directly did get the correct info.

I just went over to the Terminal at SYD and spoke with the SQ Check-in Service Desk staff directly, and they have confirmed that you will be able to check-in and check your bags in any time throughout the day. There is no time limit.

It seems SQ are back permanently in Check-in Group K, which is the group of check-in counters furthest from Rydges, but you will need to confirm this when you arrive at the terminal on the day.

Hope that helps.
