Hi folks,

Lady Lenny and I are off to Europe in 3 weeks (winter trip for her birthday!!) we're doing 4 legs on SQ

-27/12/17: SYD - SIN SQ222
-28/12/17: SIN - MUC SQ328 (my first A350 flight :))
-14/1/18: LHR - SIN SQ317
-15/1/18: SIN - SYD SQ211

When I first booked (a few mths ago now) I was able to select seats on SQ328 but not the others. Now we're sitting at 3 weeks out and I still see no availability on SQ222, SQ317 or SQ211.

We've gone SQ a few times before to London, and I've flown them a bit to Asia for work, always at VA Platinum or Gold depending on the trip and I've never not been able to select seats this close to departure. Has anyone else run into this issue??

I'm VA Gold atm so I'm not overly worried as I can always work it out at check in, but this seems odd to me. I had thought it may have something to do with the roll out of the new A380's, but SQ211 is still showing as a 773.

Would someone be able to check ExpertFlyer and see if there's available seats?? Thanks :D

Edit: Whoops, forgot to mention we're flying Y

This is normal. SQ seems to hold back big chunks of the cabin, presumably to make it easier to accommodate people travelling together / groups. If you don't want to wait to T-48 when OLCI opens, at T-96 the seat map usually opens up, to provide an opportunity to select seats - or a bigger range of seats.

Edit: just checked your SQ 222 on expert flyer, is showing no open seats, 126 blocked seats, and the rest are allocated. I'd expect at least half of those 126 blocked seats to be available at T-96.

Thanks dajop, yeh I assumed they were just blocked but it's good to know. I'm used to seeing large blocked chunks but never the entire stock of seats :) I'll jump on over Christmas and see what's available then...hoping to grab one of the 2 seaters upstairs for the LHR - SIN A380
