Hi Folks - I have a regional SQ booking coming up - flying SIN-BLR-SIN. An initial seat selection was done when buying online, but furthest forward I could go was was row 7 of Y. Seeing [blocked] seats available on EF at the time, I rang and was told by SQ customer service that I would not be able to select a forward cabin seat until OLCI (T-48 hours), however just today I was looking at seats at around the T-80 mark... and I was in fact able to select row 1 of economy. I should note just one seat was open - the others unoccupied on EF still show as blocked.

Do you think it's just a random bit of luck, or is there a known opportunity/time to select a better seat in Y on SQ as you get closer to the flight, but before OLCI? Something like QF and T-80?

I'm a non-status SQ pax, but my TK Elite (*A Gold) particulars are in the booking.

Cheers.

This is common with SQ. I've got flights SYD SIN KUL on Sunday and the SQ website is showing only a few middle seats available, but our work system is showing tons of empty seats so T-80 is always a good bet. I've seen the cabin go from not being able to select a seat to only being half full.

Yes - I ended up being able to select the inbound row 1 of Y about 5 days out from the flight as well. Also had an empty middle on both sectors, which was the icing on the cake for these generally packed flights. Doing it again in April, I think... and hoping for as much luck again!
