Interesting move as reported by airline route, not enough business to justify three services with the A380 ?

As per 24MAY13 GDS timetable/inventory display, Singapore Airlines from 31DEC13 is adjusting planned Airbus A380 operation on Singapore – London Heathrow route. SQ306/305 will change from A380 to Boeing 777-300ER, which sees A380 operation reduces from 3 to 2 daily.

SQ306 SIN0115 – 0720LHR 77W D
SQ308 SIN0900 – 1510LHR 388 D
SQ318 SIN1255 – 1905LHR 77W D
SQ322 SIN2345 – 0555+1LHR 388 D

SQ317 LHR1055 – 0735+1SIN 388 D
SQ305 LHR1515 – 1155+1SIN 77W D
SQ319 LHR1815 – 1455+1SIN 77W D
SQ321 LHR2205 – 1845+1SIN 388 D

Further changes to planned operation remain possible in the next few months.

The A380 Suites are often loaded with between 2 and 5 passengers on that route and it has been my favourite run on one Saver and one Standard points redemption. We have been doing it 3 times a year plus comping some family members.

Based on the timetable:

SQ306 SIN0115 – 0720LHR 77W D
will turnaround to operate
SQ305 LHR1515 – 1155+1SIN 77W D

SQ308 SIN0900 – 1510LHR 388 D
will turn around to operate
SQ321 LHR2205 – 1845+1SIN 388 D

SQ322 SIN2345 – 0555+1LHR 388 D
will turn around to operate
SQ317 LHR1055 – 0735+1SIN 388 D

which leaves:
SQ318 SIN1255 – 1905LHR 77W D

Is SQ planning to park the aircraft almost 24 hours before it operates the return sector?
SQ319 LHR1815 – 1455+1SIN 77W D

Hope they realise this and make "further changes to planned operation" in the next few months...

Just a guess, but can the reason for swapping a A380 for a 77W is that SQ wants to put their new F and J seats on the LHR route? These new seats will be introduce on the soon to be delivered 77W.

And at the same time the A380 goes for a refit?
