Daughter has managed to talk DL (don't ask me how) into an award routing

DEN-LAX DL7789
LAX-SIN SQ37 arrives 0620

Any speculation on the ability (and advisability) of connecting with QF72 (dep 0900) for PER? About a hundred SG$ cheaper than SQ. Or would it be simpler (safer) to just book her on SQ especially since her return is on SQ SIN-LAX?

Happy wandering

Fred

0620-0900 is plenty of time at Changi IMO, even with the new terminal config when T3 opens. This is subject to her flights arriving on time of course.

My concern would be whether or not DL would tag the bags through to PER. It might be safer to only tag them to LAX and check them again with SQ there. I would expect no problems with SQ tagging bags to PER if using either QF or SQ even on separate tix - just make sure she has the onward ticket details.

Personally I would probably not risk the QF connection since its separate tix and then no requirement to be protected if SQ is late. I would be planning a recovery stop in SIN. But I am a conservative traveller when it comes to risky connections.

Hand luggage only ? (some how i doubt it for you daughter)
I would just book the SQ, dont have to change terminals, and better protected in case of late planes etc.

No guarantees about terminals when T3 opens. LAX-SIN can arrive at either terminals 2 or 3, depending on what flight the plane is going to operate next and you'd only find out 2 hours prior to arrival.

SIN-PER will most likely depart from T3 from memory.

edited to add: T2-T3 will be a somewhat lengthier journey than T1-T3...

That's my gut feeling as well. Should be able to get bags fully checked through, and possibly get the 2 bookings linked correctly.

Arhhh yes, i had forgotten that little point about T3, 95% of the time i depart T1 on a OW airline so not get over to T2 that often to be reminded of the new terminal.
