SQ meal selection

How long ahead of the flight does meal selection open up? I'm not travelling for ages but would like to get it done so that it is one less thing to think about nearer the trip. In the past I've been able to select special meals at the same time as selecting a seat change.

You can only BTC within 90 days of departure.

This may have changed - yesterday I was able to choose meals for flights in April next year.

It's done and I don't have to worry about it. Counting down the days to the flight and destination is what I'm usually looking forward to. In flight food, not that much

Well that has buggered that - Eli has left KF and started work in a bank in SIN next day - she was too scared to tell me she was leaving as she thought I might 'get angry' with her! OMG am I such a monster as that?

Any ways Eli passed the baton to Mia - Mia called me to ask what my problem was - I explained that previously BTC could not be undertaken til within 90days of dep. She asked what was my BR# and she would do it for me - err no this is just general query as I have other friends asking can the BTC – ok sorry but not that easy as BTC restrictions vary on routes as some dep ports don’t have same ability for meal preparation – ok so can’t you you email me a list of which routes have BTC restrictions?

No would be easier if you just call me after you make booking and I will tell you if can BTC on that route – err after I make booking then I can just click through and see myself if BTC available – yes you can do that. Right about now I determined Mia was not going to provide the info I reqd.

OK back OT – I checked some of my bookings next year and it appears no restrictions on BTC for dep MEL or SIN – but I checked dep FRA and ZRH and they won’t display BTC availability – so I called Mia back and she double checked – yes she confirms appears those routes can only be BTC within 3mths. Still totally unsure which routes when can BTC and TBH I never use it so prolly won’t pursue it any more – sorry this is all I can add.

Many thanks to all for their replies, esp. to CE for persevering with the query to SQ even amidst the pain of discovering his contact had gone AWOL to a bank.

This is a straight MEL-SIN-LHR return in Y, except for SIN-MEL leg in PE. When I tried previously I coudn't access meal selection on any segment. Just tried again now, and I could select meals now on both the outward legs (perhaps because it's now less than 9 months away) but not on either of the return legs, which are 6 weeks later. Obviously, the trip is so far ahead that I'm not at all bothered, but it would be good to know if >9 months out is in fact the limitation.

I don't know what I want to eat for dinner tonight, let alone what I want to eat in April next year.

Apart from the Lobster I find BTC to be quite a gimmick. The regular menus are quite good normally.
