Quick question.

I joined KF a few months ago, and after flying a bit qith them, quickly got to KF silver. I then realised that while SQ require 25k miles for silver, they require another 50k miles for gold.

while I was a bit annoyed about that, I am shortly going to make PPS with SQ, so it becomes irrelevant.

However, on logging on to my profile this afternoon, I noticed that I have been elevated to KF gold :D, with 50k miles in total so far - including my silver qualification miles.

I was wondering whether:

a) it is a computer glitch
b) there is some unknown (to me, at least) process to allow for quick promotion (a la the AA platinum challenge) - but SQ is not know for being generous with status
c) i was comped - again, SQ not known for such acts of generosity.

Regardless, I am curious, although am not complaining.

Any comments/suggestions welcome.

cheers

ok, new thought - maybe I simply misread the terms and conditions and 50k miles is sufficient for gold (including the 25k for silver qual)....:oops::oops:

Answered your own question, 50K total to get to gold not 50K on top of the 25K to get silver.

applies in first 12 months from joining 50k gets it, despite the online profile saying otherwise

....and that was the point exactly. maybe I'm just being too much of a lawyer about this (no jokes please), but the Ts & Cs state that:

"KrisFlyer Elite Gold status will be yours when you achieve 50,000 Elite miles in any class of service on Singapore Airlines, SilkAir or any Star Alliance airline during your Elite Silver membership year, and credit them to your KrisFlyer account."

To me, that means you have to be silver and then accrue the 50k, but I guess not. Not complaining, just think that others may avoid SQ membership ahead of others if they misread the Ts & Cs like I did.

cheers

look at it like this - to get to gold you need to pass silver, and you need 50k in points, and get it in a year.

Interesting any class of travel will do - when I was PPS for a few years it had to be in J/F class only.

when did they make that change?

SPRUCE:rolleyes::rolleyes:

No change, the option of achieving Krisflyer Silver and Gold has always been there for mileage earnt on SQ, MI and star alliance partners, mileage earning varying by class of travel, booking class and partner.

PPS is for J/F travel only on SQ/MI only - it also automatically grants star alliance gold status, which may be the confusion.

Pecking order for Krisflyers travelling on SQ is : Solitaire PPS, PPS, KF Gold (which are all also * alliance gold), then KF Silver.
