Hi all,
Booked J class SIN - PER for my wife and infant son (don't worry, he's at that age where he would either sleep or feed so won't be noisy) using my SQ points and paid the $200+ in taxes. Was surprised that the infant fare is about 20% of the full adult fare. (Current adult fare is $2688, infant is over $400). Seems very expensive for someone who wouldn't occupy a seat!

Is this correct, or would the price go down later? I was told it was 10% of the adult fare previously, but the person on the phone now said it's "15 - 25%".

Is there any reason on why I shouldn't wait till the month before flying to book my son's ticket, since he doesn't occupy a seat anyway?

Decided to cancel that flight and book QF at around $300 + 50000 points. Can't justify paying over $400 for an infant!

The infant fare itself is 10%, the taxes are not and often can be 15-25% of the adult taxes.

That doesn't make sense - infant fare is 10% but taxes are another 10% (in my case)?

How mine was calculated was:
1) Quote for an adult fare
2) Quote for an adult + infant fare
(2) - (1) = $400+.

Thai is a flat 20% now (in business). Usually no taxes or very few anyway. Usually need to book full C class for the infant too which can be a pain
