SQ F/Suites JFK-SIN A380-800 Rewards tickets

Reading all this made me take a plunge. Yesterday I put extra 17,000 miles into my MEL-SIN-BKK trip this Friday night to get a suite instead of being in J considering it's going to be on A380 from MEL to SIN. It's not ideal as there's no F between SIN and BKK and MEL - SIN being an overnight flight but I'll try to stay awake and enjoy my champagne! One more sleep!

I have a new motto of always flying F if its available. Life's too short, and you never know if F class will be eliminated altogether and replaced with J class in the future.

Yeah, that's how I thought :) Who am i saving my points for if not for myself to enjoy? How much better non-suite F comparing to J? I don't think I'll bother upgrade my SIN-MEL on J to F flying 77W.

Depends. If you plan to sleep most of the time then I'd agree but if your flight is not red eye and you can properly enjoy the soft product then F is worth it IMO.

The great thing with Singapore is their soft product is so consistent, and F is superior to J in every way as long as you have a day flight! I would definitely upgrade if you can fly new F compared to old F. I actually rate new F higher than suites personally!

I've been browsing threads, checking reviews of various J products, ahead of booking our 2017 trip. I've been mulling over whether to try SQ suites, given the cost is not really THAT many extra miles. Pumbaa, your argument is quite persuasive. If I don't take this opportunity*, I may never have another opportunity, right?

I cant believe it, I am so excited I can hardly wait!! I actually managed to get rewards tickets for F class/suites, from JFK-FRA-SIN. 2 tickets for 187,000 SQ points plus about $700 taxes and fees.
It could never have been done if it wasn't for the tips and tricks from the members on AFF, and I need to send out a special thanks to Cruiser Elite for telling me to be patient (a thing I need to learn I think).

As we are travelling as a couple I have booked the only two adjacent seats available, would that be preferable or is single seats better as its right next to the galley? Also, how do I know if it is F or if it is the new Suites? The booking merely states A380-800, one mails says First and the other one Suites. Really doesn't matter to me at this stage, but it would be interesting to know.

Are there any perks that I need to know of before hand? I know Etihad has a chauffeur, some get priority lanes through customs and security etc. Anything I cant miss?

Also, is the stopover in FRA just a refuelling stop or do we embark the airplane?

Fantastic! I love reading posts like this, and how excited everyone gets about it. Makes me feel like less of a nerd!

My friends all make fun of us for booking 12 months in advance, and friends we would like to travel with in a year all say "I could never plan that far ahead". When they are crammed in Y while we are deciding on a glass of Krug or Dom while we have our double bed turned down, it'll all make sense.

Exactly... many of my co workers are wondering how I can do this, and I have explained to them so many times but they just dont understand or wont listen. But they also sit on their $8000 Y tickets to Bali with the family while we travel round the world in F & J

In the past I used to think, value for money wise, its better to save the points and redeem more J flights. But for my honeymoon I booked all F flights and have never looked back. I find flying in J means you get to your destination in one piece ready to hit the ground running. Flying in F for me is absolute luxury. Its like watching a movie in Gold Class, or driving a nice European car. If you are one of the lucky few that has the opportunity to do it, you owe it to yourself!

This is my dilemma...or should I say was my dilemma. You've convinced me to seize the day. I owe to myself but also to my SO. He's had a tough year and if I can book suites, that would be a mighty fine surprise.
