Booking my return flights from SIN to MEL in Cattle class.
Am I better to book on an A330-300 or B777-300ER...
travelling alone on 1th sept . i note the A330 is a 2 - 4 -2 config.
The B777 is a 3-3-3... any recommendations on which is the better metal ?

777 hands down. Better seats. Better IFE. Although it would depend on timing the 77Ws leave Friday night at 9pm and 11:55pm, whereas the 333 leaves at 2 am (on the 2nd Sep?) quite a late departure.

777. Just keep in mind you might get an old config 77W, shouldn't matter much as they schedule them in redeyes. One of the few carriers left with 3-3-3 config, enjoy it while you can. Apparently SQ has no plans to change but you never know.

That's a plus, not a minus ;)

IMHO, older config has more comfortable seats (the recline from seat in front is not as "in your face" as on the newer configured 77W's), but IFE screen not as good as the newer ones. YMMV.

I'll rebel a little here and say that I don't mind the A333. Definitely if travelling with SWMBO, I'd chose it since we can then take the two seats by the windows. The IFE isn't the newest, but it's not the ancient 772 style IFE either. A333 also has a nice balance of spaciousness without feeling like a never ending tube.

Since OP is travelling solo though, it's much of a muchness I think. As long as it's not the 772, I'd just choose on schedule and price.
