SQ 773: informative article on cabin improvements

This Wall Street Journal article may be part media release but it's nonetheless an informative article about what SQ is doing to entice passengers and once again shows how far this airline is ahead of the declining QF:

I do not know if this seat design will be retrofitted to older aircraft in the SQ fleet.

Thanks for that link - just goes to show a enthusiast blog/web site will always beat a paywalled article that is just lifted from the press release anyway. Those pictures in the SQTalk area do look pretty good and probably provide benchmark nightmares for all their competitors.

Just a shame that the A380 and existing B777-300ERs wont' be fitted with this! But given that the oldest A380 is approaching her 6th birthday, she'll be out of the fleet in a few years which is simply amazing!

Main problem is that creates yet another subfleet of products But on the medium-long haul the existing J product is great, but the F product not so much on the B777-300ER

lovestotravel, with SQ's existing J class in its A380s and other aircraft of modern design, haven't there been many complaints that the seats are 'too wide', that they are 'not comfortable for sitting in because they lack lumbar support' and so on?

Dead right - J on 380 and 77W are too wide and uncomfortable to sit in IMHO - these seats are known as Diamond seats - the newer smaller J regional seats are known as Webber seats and indeed are more comfortable to 'sit' in.

Personally I also think SQ Std F is more than adequate - no bling but totally functional.

SQ staff on recent MEL-PVG flt had no idea of names for new F and new J - guess they will be known as .……………… New F and New J perhaps?

They are a little "stiff" yes, but I'd much prefer "too much room" over a coffin type seat or the QF J A380, plus with the food/wine on SQ you quickly forget about the seat!

But yes there is room for improvement in softness!
