I have a OW J award booked for 2 pax in April 2023. We are both Points Club Plus members so we'll each earn 160 SC from the Qantas flights in the booking.
It seems likely that Qantas would run another DSC promo between now and April next year, so I was wondering if anyone can confirm whether splitting a PNR during a DSC window will result in pax on the newly created PNR earning bonus SC?
We are both WP so there's no shared status benefits from keeping the two pax together, and it's also pretty unlikely that one would get bumped if a flight is oversold/downgauged.
I'm keen to hear any experiences or good reasons not to try this
My primary concerns are losing the award space due to reticketing delays (carriers are QF/JL/AY/BA who seem to be more lenient on ticketing deadlines?), potentially higher taxes/fuel surcharges (does splitting a PNR trigger a recalc for either old/new record?) and losing seating allocations.
