GET READY TO EARN — AND THEN EARN SOME MORE.
It's almost "two" good. With the SPG® Take Two promotion, you'll earn double Starpoints® on all eligible stays from September 1 through December 15, 2013 — with no limits. Plus, you'll get 2,500 bonus Starpoints for every five eligible nights you stay — up to 10,000 bonus Starpoints and 20 nights. The earnings are endless at over 1,000 participating Starwood hotels and resorts worldwide. Any takers? Registration opens at the end of August.

Nothing from SPG for August. Too bad, need to change some bookings now...

Historically they dont do August AFAIK. Ironically I picked Spetember for my requal gold gift of 2X points for the month!

Is that means you will get 4x points per stay?

Yes, not quite as good as the 6000 I have been getting with my best rate guarantees but OK

Registered for my dad, who's stayed with them a bit recently. Ended up crediting a conference to his account that earned a huge chunk of points, and then won a free iPad as part of a promotion for people crediting conferences to their accounts. Could be delivered by the end of today :p

We'd stay with them more if they had more properties here... affordable ones too.

There are more coming including Brisbane, but the points are the real value, turn 20K into 25K AA miles after a few best rate guarantee payouts.

Still not enough in Australia.
All 3 Sheratons in QLD are old and dated.
The new one in Brisbane will be Aloft if I remember correctly, will not add to the lack of 5* hotels in the city.
Nothing in Adelaide & Perth.
At least Melbourne will get a decent Sheraton soon. Too bad I will not get to enjoy it as I live there :(

Its a four points in Brisbane.

I just hope they will not price it as high as in Sydney. This week I had to choose between four points 270$ and Westin 280$ (Sheraton fully booked).
A real Sophie's Choice I had there... :)

Boomy in reference to your comment on all three Sheratons in Queensland being old and dated, both Gold Coast and Noosa have had full refurbishments.
You may be pleasantly surprised by both.

That's good to hear. Maybe the Gold Coast Sheraton can be a good alternative to the failing Hilton.
Time to check Sheraton Noosa again, hope they replaced the old tube TV's :)

The refurb at the GC Sheraton is quite solid. It still is my favoured hotel on the GC, notably the only beachfront hotel, large rooms, quality long term staff & consistent quality food & beverage.
It also has a proper driveway & dedicated & impressive lobby.. The list goes on VS the alternate in Sufferers Paradise.
I have a plan to inspect the Noosa Sheraton improvements soon.. So shall update as.

I don't think there's much problem with that. Sheraton has no exec lounge, but let's face it.....neither does the HSP  (worth speaking of, anyway).

The other biggie in Sheratons favour, is the pools. Great pools with many aspects and right on the beach. Hilton pools are shaded more than sunny and the buildings create an almost constant wind tunnel effect which makes lounging around the pools an uncomfortable experience (even in the peak of summer).

Anybody can give an opinion on the Hong Kong Sheraton ?
Will staying there and would like to know what to expect. Thanks
