SPG status match

Has anyone any experience of SPG matching to HHonors status? I am hoping to maybe branch out next year as 6 months staying in Hiltons may get a bit monotonous.

you need to call spg and then fax your latest statement to the US and they should match, or at least fast track you.

I saw the recent HHonors devaluation (whereby they are adding an additional rewards category) as an opportunity to test other programs so I emailed SPG and told them I was disappointed with Hilton's move and asked if they'd status match. They did!

I am Royal Amb - who do i contact to staus match?? great idea.

Who should I approach? HH and SPG?

I am surprised the matched HH gold-that didnt happen in the past but recently they have been giving out SPG gold to all comers so I guess thats why.
However SPG gold is really not as good as HHonors gold.Rare upgrades,no free breakfast.The biggest advantage is 4pm checkout apart from resorts.
Status matching Hhonors diamond to SPG plat is well worth it and easy to do.if problems log on to Flyertalk and PM one of the Starwood Lurkers-they are fantastic.i hadnt heard anything,pmed a Lurker and next day received my email confirmation of the match.

Keep in mind a status match to SPG is a once only affair (unless they lose track of the fact they've comped you before!). The SPG Lurkers at Flyertalk are always stressing this point!

I got Hyatt to give me Diamond based on my Hhonors Gold and SPG Gold, and then SPG to give me Plat based on my Hyatt Diamond! Oh and the HH Gold I got with a 4 stay fast track.

So 4 x 1 night Hampton Inn stays = Hyatt Diamond = SPG Plat, for me.

(I've since re-qualified for SPG Plat legitimately, and will do so again in the next few weeks). Hyatt and HH I've dropped one level, as I've been focussing on SPG, which I find the most suitable for me.

YMMV but SPG do not match IC Ambassador

You do not need a status match if you are not currently a member of SPG and are only after SPG Gold.
