Hey there! I realise it might be hard to find the answer here in Australia, but I thought I'd ask anyway. I've had a huge SPG year this year, and by the end of my next BKK trip in 2 weeks, I'll be sitting on 97 nights. I might use 1 or 2 more later in December, but I really don't know. I could just book a stay at Aloft for about $100 per night, and get the three nights (even thought I'll stay at SGS), but not sure if spending $300 is worth it...

I expect to use plenty of stays again next year too, but let's see what happens with the Marriott buy out though.

Any thoughts?

There's a write-up by Ben OMAAT on this as he recently gained the Ambassador Status - might give you an insight on what to expect and weigh it up if its worth the extra nights..

First Impressions Of SPG Ambassador Status - One Mile at a Time

No one on this forum is going to tell you not to go for it. :)

I can't really speak from experience (I hold no status with SPG). I've always read with interest of Ambassador experiences etc and if you're so close, I'd be going for it. It's not a huge mattress run, so may as well experience it just once!

Would love to hear what you think of it.

Yeah like asking a gambler if I should have one more bet... :)

Anyway, reading that review, I also may not use it much, but I doubt next year I'll get to 100 nights, so I'm gonna make a run for it... bring it on!

Well I'm now welcoming the new year as SPG Platinum 100! Booked a few nights in Bangkok when I was there at Aloft, and finished with a night at Westin Melbourne earlier this week. My account hasn't been updated yet, but it will in the coming days! Thanks for all those that gave me great information about SPG, it's been a VERY rewarding experience.

I've just booked my next stay, and I'm giving The Hermitage, Jakarta a run in late January, looks spectacular and a new addition in Jakarta.
