I am looking at a stay at the Regis Princeville in Hawaii. I am contemplating booking through the Amex Fine Hotels and Resorts program. Does anyone know here if the hotel will still recognise my SPG gold status and I will still receive my SPG points etc.

A few years back when I was Platinum and thinking of staying at this St Regis, I read that there were pretty stingy on upgrades as a Platinum member and decided against staying there. Things may have changed and who knows what kind of treatment a Gold may get however you can browse the specific hotel thread over at FT, the link below, where there would be much more experiences reported. That said, the FHR might go above and beyond what any Gold member so I would be looking at FHR first, especially if the price is not much more.

You can book with FHR, Visa or Virtuoso and still get your SPG status benefits in conjunction, as well as earn points. I have been told you can also use BRG with their bookings as well (cause their rates are pretty terrible) but I can't see how that would work.

Thanks for the replies. The Fine Hotels rate seems to be comparing quite well with any deals I can find. The prepaid rate is only $20 cheaper then the flexible rate that FHR require. I cant find any "offers" that compare favourably. Especially once you include breakfast and a possible upgrade. Glad to hear you get your SPG points. I was able to confirm that on FT too.

If you can get a package that includes valet parking it's worth it since there's no other parking option there.
