South African Airways has extended its code-share deal with Virgin Australia to include flights to Sydney, just weeks after Qantas unceremoniously dumped it as an alliance partner.
Qantas ditched its long-standing tie up with South Africa's flag carrier on flights between Sydney and Johannesburg last month, saying it had little chance of renewing the alliance when it expired at the end of the year.
The South Africa airline found out about the end of the deal via the media.
