Something big is coming! (1st May)

I’d rate KUL, BKK and Japan as about 0% chance of happening,
SIN maybe 1% but suspect SQ would squash that attempt.
They can’t get Hong Kong right so think will continue to try and build that.

Agreed, but a man can dream right?

As a typical SFF who only vacations in SEA 1-2 times a year, the lack of options on VA Metal even for Paid flights is frustrating, let alone a lack of aspirational J redemptions.

Considered accruing pts with QF, but as I'm really a Frequent Buyer, I found that my Local Woolies didn't have products I buy Every shop, a lighter shop cost me $20 more at Woolworths vs Coles, & Woolworths doesn't even have a rewards app as according to a Woolworths Rewards Call centre member, many WR members are pensioners that don't have a Smart phone or an Email account, and just want money off their shop.

Pure speculation:
a.They will be removing the F100s and the A320s and closing down the regional side of VA for capital city flights, and services formerly provided by VARA for inter capital city flights will now be provided by VA main ops.
b.More food choices on flights, no more muffin and yoghurt (which gives me the "runs").
Even pretzels which can last long without refrigeration, is better than a muffin and a mini yoghurt tub.
c.Happy hour will be expanded by half an hour each way, 4.30pm to 7.30pm for light grog on flights.

On Tuesday my brother got an email from Velocity.

"Are you ready for your big bonus?
Let us know if you have reward points with any of the partners below and when the May bonus starts, we'll send an offer that suits you.
Select your preferred participating partner then you're all set."

The email then has pics of logos for AMEX, ANZ, CBA, NAB, Westpac, Citi, HSBC, Diners, Card Services, Suncorp, BOQ, Flybuys.

He has a few thousand flybuys but no credit cards.
His Velocity account pools to me so maybe I can get a small amount from his flybuys.

I didn't get this email. Neither did other family or friends.

It will be interesting to see what happens in May for all who did not receive the email.

This was always going to be a transfer bonus promotion.

The usual VA haters had some fun at least...

As it seems to Velocity specific there really is only three things

-% off Redemption offer
-Point Bonus
-Transfer bonus.

They have never really pre advertised the first two but they have a history of pre promoting potential transfer bonus offers before which is no doubt part of the banks marketing lure.

From memory there was a transfer bonus last May so they will need to cycle it as they did cycle the recent point bonus offers over last year also.

I got this email too. Didn't put the two together until just now!

Transfer bonus seems most likely for the big announcement.

Yes I also received the email.
Possibly as a result of participating in their earlier "surprise" promotion.

I'm actually hoping for the Amex transfer theory - some serious bonus points to be realised there............
