Etihad isn't exactly a good option to transfer to considering the ongoing shrinking they're doing...

While all airlines seem to be in cost cutting mode, Etihad seems to be the most blatant.
Etihad giving over Stadium branding sponsorship to Disney (Marvel stadium in MEL) is more full on than removing an olive from each meal.

As a traveler I’m more concerned with their routes being cut back / reduced / downgauged :)

Joining Star Alliance or Sky Team would be my dream come true.

Can someone explain to me my Virgin are ideologically opposed to an alliance? I recall Borghetti speaking about it a while back, but it never really made sense.

Joining an alliance costs a considerable amount of money including ongoing membership fees and one-off expenses of upgrading the computer systems, especially that VA doesn't currently have the cashflow for any alliance in general. In addition, JB was on record saying that if he "had" to take VA into an Alliance, SkyTeam would be it.

Star Alliance is also no longer an option for VA since the NZ breakup, as *A publicly stated they are no longer interested on the back of the NZ break up. NZ's Luxon and his friend Oscar at UA would use their veto to block any VA application into *A since the bust up.

It's believed that Luxon during the bust-up allegedly demanded that VA "give up all international", dump Delta and become a domestic feeder by feed everything into his airline (NZ) and UA. Which at that point all other major shareholders (with their own competing interests) sided with JB, leaving Luxon with no option but to quit and sell up NZ's stake in VA.

In other words, SkyTeam is VA's ONLY alliance option available to them in conjunction with their BFF relationship with DL.
Having said that, don't expect VA to join any Alliance in the short term as it's down the bottom of new CEO Scurrah's priorities, plus there are some considerable mending required between VA and the mentioned hostile *A members before VA is considered for *A again..

Yeah seems to be a range of bonus rates. ANZ seems to be 50%... is that a typo?!

they finally added in CBA, they haven't been in these bonus points for ages (i think 2017).

Can someone please confirm if how this works is: 2 ANZ rewards points becomes 1 Velocity point. Plus 50% bonus of 0.5 velocity point = 1.5 in total received?
