These lists are always questionable, I've been to a few towns like these in France and Germany not on the list that easily could be, always good reading though

Meissen: "As Bavarian as Bavaria gets, Meissen dates back to the 10th century and is renowned for its porcelain production."

Meissen is no where near Barvaria, or am I missing something? It's just north west of Dresden in the Free State of Saxony (Freistaat Sachsen).

Not missing anything, you're correct of course. For a Bavarian version of Meissen I suggest Rothenburg ob der Tauber (although overrun with tourists). Aschaffenburg is really nice too (just 40km east of Frankfurt but in Bavaria's north-western-most corner), as is Passau, located on the Danube river on the Austrian boarder.

Agree with Dingle Peninsula in Ireland's west (though not a town really), and Colmar in Alsace is really nice too.

In terms of the UK, I found Durham really nice, the cathedral is impressive.

Yes, some pretty towns there but no doubt many similar ones throughout Europe... Only been to one but will probably put a few more of future itineraries... Might have to plot them on a google map and see which ones are closest together....

I'm surprised nothing from Poland made the list, Krakow in particular, also my list would include Visby in Gotland.

On an 7 day island hopping cruise on Dalmatian coast out of Split, Croatia on MV President we visited one of the most beautiful places BOL on island of Brac, beautiful old stone buildings in top order, spotless streets, excellent eateries, low cost accom. and one of the best wineries I've ever been to, we are going back for sure.

Had never seen this list before but on our upcoming European holiday, we had actually planned to go/stay in six of these towns.

Might add another couple as many are in the same general areas we are planning to visit

40 is way too limited. I've been to 2 of them but if I compile the list, Tallinn will definitely be there.

Agree with this, also Vilnius and Riga would be on mine.

Great looking places. What I also love about them is that the weather is perfect and there are no crowds!

Transform your lounge room (or any indoor space) into your own private movie theatre in just a few seconds.

Our Mini Pocket Projector is small, light and easily transportable. A must have!

I've visited many great old towns in Europe but from memory have not visited any of the 40 great old towns on this list.
