Funny how they do that for PG and not for earned SG?

They do.. you still get 3 months QP when you drop from SG if it's earned. Not treated any differently.

good question... I have no idea simply because I have not dropped to Silver since getting SG/WP!

I plan on (in theory) dropping back to PS in just over 2 years' time so I can use up the rest of my year and a bit of QP, then keep up SG after that so it is not "wasted" so I may be able to tell you then.. but after experiencing WP/OWE, you can't go back. You just can't.
