Buried in yesterdays Fiji news was an interesting snippet from Sofitels APAC VP that deserves its own thread given the continued sub standard operation of the Broadbeach property.

Sofitel is our go to in Queenstown and although it’s still a good property it is showing signs of age and their was barely enough room to swing a cat in the lounge before they started handing out status like confetti so hopefully that is part of the refurb.
We don’t stay on the Gold Coast too often but sounds like I’m not missing much by avoiding the Sofitel Broadbeach

It’s been happening for 25 years, status matches were easily obtained in the first decade of the century for highest tiers of some ordinary competition such as best western etc, now like IC and their royal ambassador tier they have limitless for the top tier at least.

Just seems for Accor at least the lounges are a lot more packed these days at most properties and the infrastructure hasn’t kept up.
Does seem to be a lot more Accor Plats these days

I haven't been to Sofitel Broadbeach, but what are the issues of concern? Imo, for Queenstown, I have my eyes on the MGallery.
