So much for "Platinum Service"

Google can't get me a table at Tetsuyas on the day that I want...

Exactly. And sometimes if they can't get a table, they maybe able to shorten the waiting period. But then again, I guess it depends on the restaurant itself?!

On top of that, I use them for other time consuming tasks.
E.g.
-Generate a list for Economy L airfares to overseas.
-Help me to organize a delivery when I'm in overseas. (They take reverse charge call)

There is no limit of what they can do, so long you keep your mind open.
 
Today I had good service from the AMEX call centre - I think because it's not the Platinum Card service team!

I canceled my Platinum cards a while ago due to the horrible service as posted a couple of times before and got a AMEX Blue card just to keep a card with them.

When the card arrived it had a low limit of $6,500 and I didn't bother until today to ask if my previous limit can be transfered - wasn't giving it much hope though ...

Guess what the AMEX rep was really nice, said he looks into it, ask me for my previous Platinum card number and said it all looks good they will now transfer the old limit and add the $6,500 on top it ... I was blown away!

I had a similar thing before with Platinum where I upgraded from Gold and my new Platinum card had a limit of I believe $5,000 whereby my previous Gold had > $20,000. When I called the Platinum service back then I just got a rude "we assessed you according to the information you provided and the credit limit stands". They didn't even bother trying to look into my history and previous card. Only after escalating and threatening to cancel could I get the Platinum services team to re-instate my old limit on the Platinum card.

This comparison of service received shows it all. I am personally convinced that the issue is the AMEX Platinum Services team. Everything I wanted when I was a Platinum member was first answered with a no or took me 2 follow up calls to get it done.

This is the world upside down ... everyone go for BLUE instead of PLATINUM!
 
Today, unfortunatley, i have to retract my previous statement that the normal AMEX service is better than the Platinum, turns out they are all useless ...

After not hearing back anything for 3-4 weeks and my credit card limit not increasing as promised before I called back and asked what's going on.

They gave me the limit increase was rejected. I asked why, it's because this is a new card and that's the initial limit. When I pointed out that I have years with Amex and $25k+ on previous card it's just explained that this doesn't matter as they access by card, not by individiual.

One interesting point was that they now said I even can't have a $25k+ on the Blue card as the limit is $10k. I can swear that when I called the first time they checked that and told me the limit on Blue is $60k.

I am just so through with them that everything is such a mini nightmare and nothing can be done. Sorry for the other memebers who have good experience with them, in my opinion this is the worst CC company to deal with.
 
I think it's hit and miss unfortunately. Sometimes I get really great service, sometimes poor, but averages OK service. When ringing about my Gold card, I ring platinum (have one of those too) and they seem to give better service than normal team.

Or they could be tricking us and just answering "Premium Card Services" when you dial the right number!!

Thank you aschmid I was always wondering why people were so pleased with Amex.I cut up my last amex card about 15 years ago-it was the third time I had given them a go.Your dealings suggest they really haven't changed-when they stuff up they stuff up big time.So even with the current computer upgrade stuff up I am happier with my DC.
