So close to achieving Gold

I'm sitting on 455 SC and have a return MEL - BNE leg this weekend on saver which will bump me up to 485. Ive got no further flights booked til October and will have 30 pts expire in eraly September. Has anyone been given an Op-up to Gold at 485 SC? Wondering if I should just book another cheap saver return leg somewhere maybe OOL or SYD to tide me over.

Find a day with SYD-OOL cheapies and give the service centre a call, book a comfort seat return (should be about $150) and you'll score 40SC/4000 points, at under $4/SC, it's not bad value.

Could even work with MEL - might be a real steal. 100SC for about $250.

Do what you need to to get to gold. It is so worth it! I did the status match last year and my experiences with Virgin over the past 10 months or so has encouraged me to requalify for gold with them on my anniversary date.

I'm not sure, but I'd assume an extra seat next to you for room, which I'm led to believe may earn SCs and velocity points, and may even be exempt from taxes?

I have one booked and I confirmed with the Velocity team (and double checked my conversation was being recorded!) that it DOES indeed earn the all important status credits!

Only problem I've just realised is that I have 15 SC expiring on Saturday (I fly up friday) and a further 15 SC expiring on monday (I also fly back monday)

Current SC is sitting at 485. Will this bump me up to Gold? Past experience shows it always takes 2 - 3 days for SC to credit to your account

As I understand it, you will probably get your 15 status credits on Saturday which will put you at 500, however the status review does not happen until midnight Saturday which is when your other 15 status credits expire. So I guess it depends which way the system processes the updates, I.e. if it removes the old SCs before processing then status review then you will not get bumped to gold.

The status credits from your Monday flights will just miss the mark in the same manor.

I'd call up and see what they can do about it, as you technically achieve the 15 required status credits just in time.
