I'm not sure if they have started offering these, or perhaps they are not available on every flight yet. I travelled SYD-PER last Thursday evening on DJ429 and returned on Friday afternoon/evening on DJ434 and the devices were not offered on either sector.

i think they are going to be $15. i would suggest taking your own dvd and watching it on your laptop, assuming your laptop is small enough to allow you to do that in a DJ seat.

Well it says $12 on the website.. but if they aren't around doesn't really matter how much they cost, eh? :D

That reminds me of the old joke:

Man goes into a widget store and asks how much their widgets are. "$15 each," replies the assistant.

"$!5 each! But Widgets 'R' Us down the road has the for $12 each," exclaims the customer.

The attendant replies, "Then why don't you just go there and buy them?"

"Because they are out of stock," says the customer.

The attendant then says, "Well, that's ridiculous. When we don't have any in stock they are only $9 each."

Maybe with Virgin Blue $12 is the price of the digEplayer before it is introduced, and $15 is the price after it is introduced. :D

I imagine it's similar to the one I used on Hawaiian a couple of years ago - it had about 4 or 5 new release movies, about 3 or 4 older (classice favourite) movies, a handful of television programs and some music clips. I was in j class, where it was free, but available at a similar charge that virgin is quoting in y class.

They also had the usual movies on, but the advantage of the player is the ability to stop/start/pause movies at will (yes, I know a lot of the airlines are starting to offer this feature in j and f class, but I hadn't seen it before this flight)

Apart from the fact I dropped mine at least 3 times in the flight (I can be a bit clumsy when fatigued!) it wasn't a bad distraction. Hawaiian still had movies on the big screen as an alternative though.

Slight delay on the arrival of the digeplayer according to the company. The supplier is having trouble supplying them and hopefully DJ will have them in May sometime.

On another issure Live2air(Foxtel) is still being ironed out but hopefully we will have that sorted out by the end of the year.
