Skywards Status match from QF?

Most of my flying for the next few years is going to be to/from Cairo - which obviously is more suited to flying with EK than QF these days, has anyone here been able to get a status match from Skywards based on the their QFF status record?

I think I've tried twice for gold, during other promo periods to see if they had a random ' why the hell not!' moment, but no luck.

Assuming you can book QF codeshares on EK ex-CAI, it possibly doesn’t matter? One trip via DXB will give you the ~4 squiggles to maintain QF status. Plus there’s option on QR and other OW airlines to Oz and elsewhere if that matters.

Unfortunately booking the same flight on QF tickets is about $1000 / 40% more expensive even though it is the same aircraft

Maybe also look at QR. If you can get status, it’s going to have this quirky dual personality of OW and VA partnership - handy when in Oz.

Might be an option too, preference would be with EK but if they make it too difficult...
