I really doubt Best Premium Economy Catering... in my experience NZ is meaningfully better. Rest seem fair (although cleanliness... I mean...)

If you go to the skytrax site the tiny blurb under qantas says ‘known for its safety record and project sunrise which will launch non stop flights to New York’.

This smacks of the lufthansa 5* rating based on a product they hadn’t even delivered yet (new business class seating). Same with project sunrise… far from being delivered.

I’m not sure skytrax is comparing apples with apples… ‘best domestic economy’ - or even business class - should be with the caveat that your chicken panini comes at a price of $200-$300 over the competitor (and maybe five or 10 times multiplied for business class).

more rubbish from skytrax. Fiji airways outranks Qantas?? Sq has the best first class seat in the sky? They may have the best ‘suite’ as in total space per passenger… but the actual seat itself? I don’t think that’s won too many awards. Come to think of it, neither has the bed.

Jokes aside it’s not a bad list. Apart from few odd ones like Hainan and Iberia I’d say the top 10 is quite accurate from unbiased pax reviews on various forums, particularly the top 3.

I’m glad QF got such low ranking because it’s definitely not top 10 airline anymore and I say that as someone who love the airline and fly mostly on QF. It needs a good shakeup in order to become world leading airline again.

Based on customer surveys, that’s not an unlikely result, over the past year. You don’t pi** off so many customers so consistently without some repercussion. ( But I agree re SkyTrax reputation, but as Boomy says, it’s not a bad list overall).

it’s definitely not top 10 airline anymore and I say that as someone who love the airline and fly mostly on QF. It needs a good shakeup in order to become world leading airline again.

Agree - it’s now Vanessa Hudson’s problem to fix.
 
Given the timing of the report no surprise to see QF drop.
That said Skytrax ratings can be influenced by $$$$ changing hands.

Might well be the case, but the top 10 largely seems not terribly out of kilter with collective wisdom as reflected in trip reports on AFF, vloggers reports on youtube, various recommendations or indeed personal experience. On any given day you could probably swap the order of the top 2, 3, 4 or even 5 carriers and come up with a reasonably defendable outcome.

Well again… I dunno… Air france is there? Maybe they’re taking ecinomy class into account. But that can’t be right because Qantas offers a really really good economy product. Not many airlines as generous with alcohol, free bags and great IFE as qantas. Along with free flowing inflight snacks and fresh fruit. If air france is there because of their first class… then surely lufthansa should be too? Oman Air? Not even a look in.

QF a shocker in recent times in so many departments, so well published including here on AFF.

But let's dismiss Skytrax, yet praise them when it suits, stock standard response.
