SkyTeam Status Match - ITA Airways

I've checked and my status has dropped back down to Club Smart (no soft drop for ITA!)
I think I did get a soft drop, my original account with them has dropped to Club Smart - but they had a thing where you could nominate another account to get a complimentary "Club Executive" status, and my 'twin' with the same name and slightly different email address got that just before my Club Executive was due to expire the first time. _That_ one has now dropped to Club Premium - which isn't much use either.

I can't think when I'll be flying on ITA metal, but at least the card is another one to add to the pile of old status cards.

Received this over e-mail today from ITA. I had noticed last week the United side of the partnership announced a few days ago but it didn't address whether there were any benefits to be had from the ITA side. This now confirms there is.
We are pleased to inform you that United Airlines, one of the largest U.S. carriers globally and a member of the Star Alliance, is now a partner of Volare.

By choosing to travel with United Airlines to one of over 380 domestic and international destinations, as a partner airline of ITA Airways, you will be able to earn and redeem points on flights operated by United Airlines.

To earn Volare points, simply enter your Volare frequent flyer number when booking or checking in.

Members of the Club Premium and Club Executive will also have access to United-owned lounges with one guest.

Cheers,
Matt.

I may have teleported to old blighty for a while. Request is in. Outcome pending.
Did you “correct” both accounts?

I must update my details to my current NYC apartment before I try…😁

Just the LH side - I don't expect they are accessing the ITA account on this (no permission sought), and only a screen grab or pic of the physical ITA card is used. I opted for pic of the card, as there were some conditions around the screenshot that I didn't want to chance.

My physical card is at home…but the Apple wallet or app version should be ok hopefully? I’ll check the criteria later!

Ditto. Received 3x approval emails (all the same 🤷‍♂️).

They say allow 10 days for status to update.

PS
Submitted an uncropped photo of my iPad screen with my ITA status page on website

Yeah, I got the 3x as well

Ditto!

Did your card number change? Mines now completely different…
Yes - it did! It seemed unusual that no part of the original card number was retained, like we see happening in the Accor system, and I figured maybe it was something to do with the match, so I did a little research over my Weet-Bix Multigrain w/blueberries & 'tanas.

I have found that in fact every time your M&M status tier changes (up or down), you'll receive a completely new card number. Even if/when you fall back to Frequent Traveller or Member status, a new card number is issued. The old ones are retired and are not reactivated later. This is the numbering that applies:

  • Base Member number starts with “9920”
  • Frequent Traveller starts with “9922”
  • Senator starts with “222”, and;
  • HON Circle starts with “333”

Past card numbers would still map internally to your account for mileage tracking, but they won’t work for new bookings or with Star Alliance recognition, so you'd need to update bookings if status changed (yuck!), and be sure to always use your current card for new ones (though I guess they would be rejected if you tried to use a prior one anyway). Luckily for me (or most of us?) the useful life of the card is only likely to be while it retains the current SEN 222 card number!

Cheers,
Matt.

Got rejected by LH.

I sent a screenshot of my card. Maybe it is not good enough. Needs a physical card
What address (country) is on your LH account? Asia / Pacific is excluded so I relocated myself to the USA.

I used an uncropped photo of my account details on my iPad (logged into the website). As per the instructions.
