Sky Club access for Velocity Gold & Platinum members

There was no real clarification beyond what it actually already indicates on both the DL and Velocity websites. (... Other than DL reminding their staff.)

The issue here is DL codeshares on AS metal - and that circumstance was not specifically referenced in VA's post.

In my opinion, no clarification is needed from Velocity re the AS codeshare - as posted by danoleary55 the first footnote on the Velocity lounge page specifically says it's not allowed:
Lounge Access with Velocity Membership | Velocity Frequent Flyer

DL's website, in my view, could do with some language input from Velocity - "Virgin Australia Club Members" is pretty meaningless and could give paid Lounge members aspirations of Sky Club access.

You are correct that no clarification was needed - in that case other than to post "We are working with our colleagues at Delta Air Lines to rectify the misinformation." there was little need to post here, although nice.

Aside from that, all V/A did was to re-affirm the (positive) rules that access should be available before a DL flight.

Why not re-affirm the (negative) rule that lounge access would not be available on an AS metal flight when booked on a DL flight number as well?

I state the latter because that's what the OP was asking!

There is a similar thread to this in FlyerTalk:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/virgin-australia-velocity/1282648-using-gold-plat-velocity-card-access-delta-sky-club.html

I made the following posting yesterday after discussions with both Delta & Virgin Australia:

If you are a GOLD or PLATINUM Velocity Member you are automatically a Virgin Australia Lounge member. If you go to the link:

http://www.delta.com/traveling_check...ions/index.jsp

then scroll down to where it says "Glossary of Terms", it does include a statement relating to Virgin Australia Club members:

"Virgin Australia Club members traveling on a flight operated by Delta or Virgin Australia Airlines."

Unfortunately there's nothing on your Velocity FF membership card that confirms your Virgin Australia lounge membership but it does show if you login into Velocity and go to "My Account" and then scroll down to "My benefits".

In speaking to Velocity it was suggested to me that when you check in for your Delta flight(s) you need to ask for an invitation to the lounge rather than fronting the lounge dragon.

I have a domestic DL flight in November that won't be connected to any international connection and I intend having with me a printout of the Sky Lounge access rules and highlighting the rule regarding Virgin Australia Lounge membership as well as a printout from my Velocity Account that confirms I'm a Virgin Australia Lounge member.

For some people there may be a "wild" card for access. If you have a Platinum American Express card issued by American Express and not by a bank you will get access as well.

The only variable, is how clued up are the DL lounge dragons on all the access rules.
