I picked this carefully, refitted plane showing last night with J class full, so full that hubby is in Y as he kindly said you take it and we will both be in J from Singapore. I confirmed flight and checked J was full, so no chance of getting him into J, get to airport and its been subbed for the old 200 series with the 2 2 2 config this morning and J is still full, how does that work out, from 28 seats to 36 and its still full? I shall have to visit him and see if I can take a scotch with me to lessen the pain.

Ok worked it out when I got on board, they left the extra seats vacant! So I sat with an empty seat next to me and hubby had to sit in Y. Plane was really old and shabby, can see why they are refurbishing them.

Thanks for the update on this trip and your redemption story, it has been interesting to see it develop.

The SQ yield management is interesting. You would have been happy to expend the extra miles for that seat. I guess they have a formulae to trade off exclusivity, brand protection, yield and complexity.

SQ have been substituting the old 772's on the SIN-FCO-SIN services for a while now, according to flightaware.

For the past couple of months, every Sunday departure from SIN to FCO has had the old 772 cabin.

Hopefully the refit will be completed soon or at least some refitted 772's get freed up as the new 77W aircraft are delivered.
