Does anyone else get the feeling that all this expansion in to Australia is getting a bit ridiculous? It's great for us consumers don't get me wrong but there is a point where it is too much!! How are they going to fill these planes...
Taking advantage of a weakened QF to dump capacity in the market to try and finish them off?
There is writing on the wall I'm afraid.

Quite right. I get 3 choices a day with SQ on MEL-SIN connecting to dozens of European and Asian destination and only one with QF which only takes me on to LHR or FRA and it costs more too. There is writing on the wall I'm afraid.
Qantas Board and Execs will say "see we told you so!"
For many years CX have been servicing SYD-HKG with the nearest thing to 4 flights a day (27 flights week) and like SQ - offer a multitude of connecting destinations. The writing has been on the wall for sometime!

Apart from Olympic sized whining, what are these folks doing about it?

Any ideas why QFi is struggling???![]()
This is not really news
SQ was always going to put a 2nd A380 on the MEL route
Old news
I suspect that ultimately the only QFi services that can survive and be profitable are high yield, low competition, long haul, non-stop such as ex Oz-LAX, DFW, HNL. They cannot compete against (largely government owned) airlines into Asia and Europe with hubs in Asia and the Arabian Peninsula. Interesting corollary, how many European Airlines still fly here?
British Airways is the only one I can think of?
Virgin Atlantic as well.
I am struggling to answer that question.
Don't Lufthansa and Alitalia still fly here?
Alitalia - not a chance.
LH, I think they codeshare from SIN to Oz. There was a LH bird in Oz within the last year, but that was to ferry around a music group.
