Hey All,

Couple of singapore questions if you will indulge me.

the transit hotels, seeing anywhere from 115 to 150 SGD for 6 hours, am I look at the wrong places for booking or is there a way i'm not seeing to get this cheaper? looking like i will have about 16 hours in SIN.

secondly, the attached image, looks to me like the 2nd flight in the selection is litterally the same flight with J availability on some but not on others? have a look at the image and i'm sure you will see what i mean right away.

Cheers!

edit: same flight different day, figured it out, my bad!

That's probably about right for prices. The SGD is pretty strong at the moment making it less attractive. I booked a single room without shower last time ($75), although when got there I was given an en suite room upgrade for free.

In a pre-Covid world, for 16 hours I would have suggested leaving the airport and getting a room elsewhere. Gives you an opportunity to see something and get better value for money for your hotel.

certainly crossed my mind but even covid aside i will be travelling overnight to SIN in Economy so know I wont sleep, the idea of hanging out without doing all the immigration shennanigans / visa? and just get my head down for a few hours sounds pretty good

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

If you book a hotel for say 6 hours, you can take a free tour of Singapore for another 4 hours or so. It's all organised by the airport and easy to arrange. Assuming it's back up and running.

When is your trip planned?

What you are seeing is probably about right. Used to be much cheaper but in the last 12-18 months the prices have increased substantially. Not sure what they will do post COVID.

not till june 2021

OK, I'd suggest booking a fully refundable booking if you feel inclined to get it sorted well in advance, but between now and then who knows what will happen to rates and procedures around immigration. But in all likelihood, wise to plan on staying airside, in case of onerous procedures for immigration.

If you're an Australian then no Visa is needed. If you only have hand language, then its not that painful. However, if you just want a place to rest your head then the airside hotel makes sense. You can also check out the airside swimming pool.

We don't yet know how painful the process will be in June 2021. It may be very different to February 2020 and earlier.

I've never used the hotel, but I have used the pool once. So I can't directly comment. I think I've seen that one of the airport hotels gives you access (maybe for a small additional fee?) but I'm sure Mr Google could give you a more accurate answer.

The pool is pretty unique.IMAG0459.jpg

Unquestionably the Riverview Hotel, now a Fourpoints By Marriott, right beside the Singapore River, with a great view of the river, and a ferry to the bay.
I first stayed there in 1992, when it was brand-new, and 25 years later with my daughter. It was still a great spot, perhaps not good enough for the Platinuma and the P1s, but definitely good enough for more humble personnel.
Please keep it to yourself.

Quick question on Changi Transit Hotels. Do any rooms have real windows? The only time I stayed there a few years ago in T2, the room was so dark and airless that I got claustrophobic, something that never happens to me.

None that I have discovered, and I've stayed in them twice.

I believe that that is the idea; no light, no noise, good sleep.

Mind you, I don't believe that your room was airless.

Can't remember which terminal, but there was no window, and no sleep, but it was far better than spendiing six or so hours in a concourse, and much better than turning your eyes into red-rimmed saucers in a QF club.

I think T2 is windowless.

We have stayed at Changi Village a couple of times and found it to be very good

Importantly, they have a free shuttle

I agree that the Village Hotel Changi is fine, especially with all the food options around it. Just be aware that the shuttle, not really surprising, is not available 24 hours a day. We had to pay one way as we arrived around 01:30.
