Singapore not extending A380 lease

That is not a new news item, though I do understand that it has hit the news today. There has been talk of that since late last year, this news item was from november 2015:
A380 fleet profile: Emirates prepares for 615 seat configuration. SIA will dispose of early models | CAPA - Centre for Aviation

SIA in 2012 placed a follow-up order for five A380s, which are due to be delivered in 2017 and 2018. SIA intends for them to replace the A380s coming off lease rather than to be for growth. These SIA A380s were some of the first off the production line and, as would be expected for early models, do not have the efficiency and programme lessons learned from aircraft delivered later. SIA does not believe even handsome lease discounts makes this A380 cohort viable to operate.

Essentially SQ knew in 2012 this was the plan, hence the additional order. So it's a news story today but this has been known for years.

Maybe soon there will be very cheap used A380's for sale - maybe AFF could buy one :)

seems quite early in the life of the airframe to be talking about it being unviable economically!

Would this be the very first A380 built?

I understand that it's carrying a few more kgs than the more recent birds.
