I have a similar question (about EK432, EY470 and EY473) like CaptainSico (sorry, not allowed to enter links at this moment, but search for EK432 :-| ). Basically the question is if I'm allowed to leave the plane during the short fuel stop in Singapore on the flights mentioned above to stretch my legs a bit. Not interested in buying duty free stuff, but walking around for an hour would be great.

Prior to discovering this forum, I'd already contacted Emirates in the Netherlands about this matter and they told me that it is prohibited to leave the plane in Singapore, while Qantas staff (I can only book it as QF8432 but it is simply EK432) told me that it is always prohibited to stay on any plane while it is being refueled (due to airport regulations). I also contacted Etihad with the same question about EY470 and EY473 and they said that I'm not allowed to leave the plane.

Okay, very confusing answers.

Does anyone has any recent experiences with these flights? Just as CaptainSico (I already pm’ed him) I would like to stretch my legs a bit in between flights, rather then spending 16 - 17 hours in a aluminum tube.

Thanks in advance

Cannot comment re EY, but at Singapore QF are correct regarding EK flights (well at least EK405, I assume it is the same for EK432). You are required to deplane and need to pass through security before boarding again (security at the gate). Also note they often suggest to return to board 1 hour before the flight, which is not necessary, 25 mins should be sufficient (gates closes for EK 20 mins prior to departure). Just don't sit down somewhere and fall asleep!

I travelled to SIN on EY473 yesterday. Everyone had to deplane in SIN even if they were going through to Abu Dhabi. I was only going through to SIN but they told the through passengers they would board again in about 45 minutes.

Thanks for your replies.

In the mean time I also got a reply on my pm from CaptainSico and he had to disembark from EK432 at SIN. This'll help me further in finding a good flight.
