Singapore Airlines' New Redemption Chart

Interestingly, Zone 9 - Zone 9 (ie CBR-WLG) flight can be redeemed for 10K/25K/35K for Y/J/F one way, before 15% discount. The only thing is that the taxes/surcharges could possibly kill this redemption, but I haven't checked it yet.

I am so dissapointed by this.. Literally booking flights for our return leg from Europe for next year as soon as they open in a few weeks time. Was buying full flex economy and then going to upgrade to J. Had enough points to do this and go Etihad J on the way over. Meant I would keep my virgin gold as well as I need the status credits. Now we literally miss out by less than 7 days.p from the cutoff. Not happy SQ. :( don't think it's worth wasting points paying for full Flexi to be able to upgrade to PE.

Try going another route that doesn't offer PE

How will this affect upgrades? Could flexible economy now be upgraded to PE? Probably too late for me as I'm travelling on 27 May and the points I'd need are still in the CC system.

The mail out said cabin upgrades start from 1st June. You will have to haggle at the check in desk

imho, couldve been worse.

the eu changes are quite negligible, and not many transfer at AMS/FCO etc anyway. LHR CDG are more popular

Upgrades using points were always pretty bad value on KF (considering both number of points required and cost of full flex economy). Have you looked into just using points outright for J?

Yes. Currently don't have enough points to do full reward in J for 2 of us after we use 250k on Etihad. I will have enough if our 60k velocity points from NAB ever drop in. 4 months is up on 2 June and if they haven't dropped in by then we will have to lodge a complaint with NAB. The other reason we were going the upgrade route was to get the status credits to keep my gold for another year. Unlikely I will do enough flying to keep it otherwise. Anyway that's a minor issue and I'm considering not worrying about gold anymore and just paying for lounge access and keep my silver status.

At least PER/DRW is still seperate to the rest of Australia (considering they merged Europe).

The no Y->J upgrade rule when PE is available is very harsh. On some sectors, the lowest PE fare is less than a Flexi.
