Singapore Airlines new First and Business Class

The yellow highlights in J maybe me think Scoot, and the orange highlights in PE Jetstar.
SQ’s PE seems to have moved the orange from the pillow to the seat itself. At least the pillow has got a batik motif now unlike in J where it’s nowhere to be seen.

In any case PE has not been improved and I think most would struggle to tell if there was any change. I certainly won’t be wasting my points on a seat that is more fancy Y than J-lite, was this really the best SQ could do after looking at CX/EK’s PE?

1st class looks etihad-ish ,
Sort of looks classy but lost its wow factor to me...

Business looks scootish or some cheaper busienss class
Business class : colour and the yellow stripe, and patterns
Yes its just a stripe,
Reminds me of a McLaren, McLaren's are so cool and I'd sell my kidney for one,

Yet it looks cheap and tacky.......... make that make sense

They could have chosen any other colour and it would probably look less cheap, why not the SQ livery gold for example?. SQ featuring yellow is a bit like QF featuring a bright orange colour. The yellow stripes are a feature of Scoot - they have yellow stripes on the Scoot Plus seat - so they seem to be blurring the brands. Just seems a silly thing to do.

Video from CNA on the new SQ F and J, and talking about how the process of developing their new seats:

It looks better in video even though I still think they could do better. Then again after 5 mins I would probably be ok with it.

I think it is more of a shame that these seats are less Instagramable.

Shocking to hear the interview with DesignWorks' CEO unable to articulate the brand colours. The design of first is much better looking than that of business; wish they carried that through.

Welcome.

Two different designers were used for the new seats.

PriestmanGoode for First Class and Designworks (a BMW Group company) for Business Class.

Which is why First looks amazing and business is laughable

Looks absolutely horrific with that Scoot yellow in Business, what the heck were they thinking?

And I definitely have a filthy, dirty mind it seems: That graph could easily be used to explain how babies are made…

The (slightly?) curved aisles in the revamped first class area give extra room in each compartment/suite, as David in 'Executive Traveller' has pointed out.

A different mode, but is similar to roomette sleeping cars designed for the 1962-1986 'Southern Aurora' (Sydney to Melbourne, and its later 1986-1993 iterations 'Sydney Express' and 'Melbourne Express', as well as on broad not standard gauge, the famous 'The Overland' Adelaide-Melbourne. The latter is sadly only a twice weekly each way day train now: no sleepers.

Very good of SQ to maximise passenger space: having straight aisles would not do this.

A shame the J seats look tacky in comparison. What was the designer thinking, and why would SQ want to 'Scootify' its J class offering, especially when for years it's copped so much criticism about the lie flat coughbersome arrangements?

The only reference I can think of is going back the the SQ livery from the 70s and 80s, which was bright yellow and blue, before they muted it for gold. The bright yellow also appeared as a bright yellow cheatline on some liveries, before being removed altogether.

So maybe someone thought that was inspiration? (but i don’t think so! 🤣)
