I spend at least 25 minutes per call whenever I call them. It is as though they are reading, very slowly, from a book. Their english is fine but their communication skills are pathetic. Today was a 41 minute call to change two tickets. I was also charged over $250 for both ticket changes a day or two later than the booked date. I asked why is it so expensive and her reply was "The price went up yesterday". I have read others being overcharged by the call centre and now I feel ripped off. Is this normal to change standard economy class tickets for them?

I would be looking at your T&C and see what fees they charge for your situation if you do decide to change. What usually may seem excessive may be in fact be really part of the T&C's. I rarely change tickets but usually I read that you pay $x for changing plus any fare difference. If you feel the fare difference is really excessive, I would do a dummy booking on those dates to see if they are really that expensive, at least that could give you an indication on the accuracy of the call centre's information.

$250 for two Y tickets doesn't seem that expensive. Unless you booked a fully flexible ticket?

Cant agree at all, I've had the unfortunate experience of having to call quite a few call centres recently and SQ easily one of the best. Though I must admit its a pretty low bar, I pretty much dread having to call any call centre and would far rather lodge requests electronically (email, web feedback etc).

We travel on SQ quite a bit. My experiences with the Krisflyer call centre have always been really good. If the answer is NO they explain why so we know where we stand.
