SIN-SYD unable to online check-in

So much so that even the jump seats by the doors in Y were occupied for the entire flight by people who were not crew members, except during takeoff/landing when the crew sat there.
Curious where those people went during take off/landing. Jump seat on the flight deck?

I meant to ask the same question - did they sneak away to the crew rest area for a little lie down?

I have seen this happen a few times on both BA and AY flights.
Might be one for “Ask The Pilot”
But I assume that what is happening is they are family on staff travel placed in jump seats at the galley/ rear. JS that aren’t required to be occupied by crew during takeoff and landing.

During the flight they are moved to more desirable JS away from crew operations and return to their designated JS again before landing.
At least that’s what I witnessed on the flights I saw.
Pax there inflight clearly too old to be crew who weren’t there on takeoff or landing.

OK, so everyone has a seat with seatbelt of one description or another?
Assume then there are more Jump seats than there are crew?

Phew for a moment I thought BA is going down the standing only tickets route o_O

Yes, that's exactly what happened. The pax were seated in jump seats in the rear galley for takeoff/landing, then moved to the ones opposite the exit row seats/beside the doors during the flight where they were more out of the crew's way.

I understand that taking on standby pax sitting in the jump seats is normally at the captain's discretion.

Surely, that would have been the red eye from hell bolt upright for 6 or 7 hrs? 😳

Pre 911, getting the coughpit jump seat ex CBR to SYD was fun but short…

Walking past the J seats (sadly), seems to me these have been refurbed recently. Seems like they're similar to the QF service such that either the BA or QF options (business and economy) are viable for SYD-SIN for future trips.

Yes, they were definitely the Club World suites in J.
